With all due respects, my kid might be playing at this level in a few years and I won't think it'll make any sense at all to be tracking him on a CMNT forum. Sorry but having watched every tier in Spain, and assuming France would be a step down, this is okay for a project, a kid working his way up. But barely. Gagnon-Laparé has been in our national program, he really should have moved to a higher level team, third tier at least.

Agreed, this is a distressingly low level for JGL to have landed. He should have at least have signed in Championnat National (3rd tier) which is around NASL level.
Jeffrey, unlike Spain the French 3rd tier is a single division (18 teams) and the 4th tier is 4 divisions (64 teams), so although Spanish football is superior at the top 2 tiers it is more watered down from the 3rd tier down.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Will Johnson has signed a two year deal with Orlando City, expected to be announced Friday.

French father, no evident link to England. May have a good shot at these kids as the French will probably have a lot more options domestically.

Yes, but until he plays an official match for us we can't afford to be complacent. A 22 yr old playing well domestically in Romania would draw the attention of some of their big clubs and their NT staff would likely start courting him too. If we crash out in the next 2 weeks our only official matches for the next 3 years will be next summer's GC. So there's nothing paranoid about keeping a close eye on the guy.

Good move if he can break into the starting XI. Augsburg has not been a good situation, the jump from Regionalliga (4th tier) with the reserves to B1 is huge.
Stanese is eligible for Romania and i believe has already been approached by their U21/23 program a couple of years ago. We need to keep in close contact and bring him in as soon as he's racking up minutes and doing well.

I think this case beckons the need to have legitimate Canada B camps and matches. Keep fringe players like Stanese involved

Of course Depor is a huge club, just like Stuttgart so I've argued once. However I think Besiktas is the bigger club of the two.
But the original question was about the level. And the competition Deportivo faces is clearly higher-level than Besiktas. You can talk Champions League all you want, fact is the top half of Primera Division IS Champions League level and possible the league as a whole.
Or to put it in Wiki-terms:
    Spanish CL-Victories: 16 (11 runners up)
Turkish CL Victories: 0 (0 runners up)
13 Spanish teams have participated in the modern Champions League, against 5 Turkish clubs. Heck Deportivo participated 5 times since 2000, Besiktas 6 since '97 so that is not even that far apart, whereas it is way harder for a Spanish club to qualify than one of the traditional top-three Istanbul-clubs.
