Bentleigh Greens play in the same league as South Melbourne. I'm moving back to Melbourne in a few months and my mate is the TD at SM Hellas. I'll try to check out a game, or two.
Awesome. Provide some pics please :)

Yes what I meant was back then it was relatively easy given there were only so many sources/routes for info!
Gotcha. I've re-read your post and I feel like you can interpret your statement both ways, but thanks for clearing it up, looks like we are on the same page

The old days! To be fair, the CSA has a list at one time but never updated it. So I took that and just started combing websites, soccer computer games, emailing clubs asking if they had Canadians on the books. Back then the net was a smaller place with fewer websites and clubs online the job seems so much more simple and manageable!
It’s def no longer a one man’s job. With the increased availability of player data, so also comes the increase of players to be added (and to be maintained) on the database. Compared to those early lists we have exponentially more players to track. So I wouldn’t say the job is necessarily easier. Luckily the google document allows infinite people to edit at the same time, hence why I was so ademant that it’s a superior solution to a forum post. Although I admit, it may have lost a certain early 90s forum charm 🙂.

Lucas Dias former Toronto Sporting FC academy player and now Sporting CP academy player has been called up to represent Portugal's sub-15 team. @Fussball_eh your website has him listed as a defender. He often plays the false 9 position on Sporting's U-15. Occasionally, a winger as well.
Source: He's my godfather's son. You can find his name littered in the Portuguese media here in Toronto.
Sorry this took so long, I just fixed it. Check the notes section on the list as well

Yeah, sort of. I think it was Marc P maintaining the Canadians Abroad list while I was tracking official Canadian caps (Senior, Olympic, U20, U17) back in the day when cap-tied meant cap-tied, no ifs ands or buts. There was something to be said for simplicity back then . I wouldn't attempt the endeavor today.
Here's a couple of files I kept from that era. One is my official caps list. The other is the first "Canadians Abroad" type list I ever came across from Jason Kmet. Have fun reminiscing.
This is so cool!

We are currently looking for a dedicated volunteer to cover the French-speaking world to start, and possibly PLSQ (not required). If anyone wants to dedicate a lot of their time, and get little more than positive karma in return, please DM me ;).

I hope it's fine to post the following message here. If you believe it doesn't belong on the V forum please let me know and I will ask the admins to remove it.
After many years of running Canucks Abroad and this thread with a small team of dedicated volunteers (that include many Voyageurs) I have decided to launch our project on Patreon. Basically it's just an opportunity for stakeholders who use our services to give back financially to compensate us for the countless hours we have invested in keeping the database up to date and the twitter monster fed.
Feel free to check out our Patreon page here: . Please note the database "Mother Of All Canadians Abroad List" will remain intact, and it's the exact same one we use on our website.
We've also updated www.canucks-abroad.ca recently if that's of interest. Some of you have heard that we launched a #CanPL discord a while ago. It's a little thriving community, feel free to check it out as well.
Happy tracking and see you next Tuesday!
Did a little writeup about what all that means. It was nice meeting many of you in Toronto yesterday. See you at the next game!

This is the time of year where we see the most changes. We usually catch players joining new clubs, but our biggest challenge in keeping the list accurate, is catching all the players who have left their clubs.
If you want to help, feel free to go through the MOACA list, and see if we got any wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How close is Froese to getting a chance with the first team in the Bundesliga?
Very far off, he got a three game suspension in the second team a few weeks ago, and then an injury...

Not sure if this goes here (being it's not abroad but it is citizenship related) but ex-TFC Dutch national Nick Soolsma signed with TSS Rovers but article points out he's a Canadian Permanent Resident and in the process of becoming a Canadian citizen.

We won't track him until he has papers officially, but it sounds like he is not too far away from getting his passport.

He's been out of the game that long? I feel like I've been posting lineups with im in it, more recently than this.

Anyone know about this guy, Zak Drake? I couldnt find him on the spread sheet or CSA. 26year old RB, Bethel college, was in GermanyTasmania. Is on the LasVegas roster, made the team through a open tryout with 100's of others. Kind of a cool story. Was on the Soccer today podcast awhile ago.
He's definitely on the spreadsheet.

BTW Haris Kevac has tweeted (already some time ago) that he was plagued by injuries and therefor has gone back home. I guess end of career.
I was wondering why he hasn't been in the lineup lately. Which twitter account are you referring to? I had been using @HKevac , I guess that one is not the right one?

What has happened to Randy Edwini-Bonsu? Is he still at FC 08 Homburg? He had such promise early in his career.
He is currently in 5th divison side TeBe Berlin. But I know he's considering other options.

We are approaching the winter breaks of many leagues in Europe, and leagues in Scandinavia and other Easter/Northern locations have ended.
This is historically a good time to go through the list to see if it is still correct.
If you want to help, please reply in this thread what needs updating.
Thanks everyone!

Evan Brandon John is back in Germany. He recently signed with BSG Wismut Gera in the German 5th tier.
Actually he got in touch with me and said they didn't come to terms in the end and the deal is off.

So how are people liking the format of the google document and the frequency of updates over the last two years?

Yeah I saw that too. They are still waiting for some kind of paperwork.

I believe this was Adam Straith's transfer to Sportfreunde Lotte. The agent spilled the beans a little too early and deleted the tweet.
