The first two articles in German talk about this issue a bit. I would think he would need to be under contract to Lubeck to get his playing permit but not sure if that would be a professional, amateur or youth contract. 4th division in Germany is considered amateur by the Germans even though all the players are paid (never understood the reasoning for this, it seems very arbitrary, German 3rd division was previously considered amateur until they made it nationwide and some of the 4th division players are quite well paid) but not sure if FIFA recognizes it as amateur. Anyway the articles say Terek officially asked permission for him to be released for the trial and the club agreed. Both articles mention a development fee not a transfer fee but state it would be in the 5 figure range. I imagine it would also include a percentage of sell on fee. It also states that Lubeck would be pleased with getting a fee out of the whole process despite the 2 year battle over the playing permit and him leaving having never played a game. His agent is from Tajikstan and apparently has a link to Terek hence the trial but is based in Lubeck and previously played for their 2nd team so I imagine he is well connected in VFB and will make sure they get adequately compensated for their efforts. Also while the German articles make a big deal about him being converted to defender from forward, the Terek website mentions that they have a lot of injuries in defence now so it is not clear whether he is playing there because they want to convert him or just because they are lacking in healthy defenders. I will post some info on the friendlies and a video on the Canucks Abroad thread.

According to transfermarket he has a contract with  Lubeck until June 2017:
    http://www.transfermarkt.com/derek-cornelius/profil/spieler/328609
So if that is true Lubeck will get a transfer fee, not development fee. If he was not signed they would get nothing because he was never signed officially by the club.
Cornelius turned 18 in November so the signing was recent.

Looking a bit more at Guadalajara. That article says he was on trial with the second team, took a look and  the B team is in 5th tier in Castille but leading their division, on course for a promotion into 3rd division, one below 2B.
So I could see Cantave being there to help the lower level team promote as well as add to the first team, could move around. While 5th would be a step down, from where he was, in u-19, it is fine if it is how he can get minutes vs senior men for the first time, esp since that team is doing very well. For me looks pretty win-win.

I asked him if he feels Canadian at all and this was his response:
"[...] it's hard not to feel Canadian when people get confused when you call a beanie a tuque!"

I think you are correct. He's an amiable guy who's always given everything, but lacks quality. We'll see how he'll pan out at FCE, as that is probably where he's going.

Great o see him resurface. You have to hand it to him, he doesn't give up and always seems to find a new club somewhere. All the best to him!

Yallop is MLS quality.  He worked miracles with SJ just 3 years ago winning the SS with an average team and coach of the year, I think much of the criticism has been harsh... his teams haven't done great recently but he also hasn't exactly had quality to work with either.  His track record speaks for itself and it is better than most coaches in the league.
He's a "grinder" coach.  One I think MLS teams that don't have the money to compete and sign big players can use.
USL is a drop down, sure but as a coach you take the job and $ you can get.  You don't just sit around waiting for someone to be sacked.

With a Euro passport players can sign pro contracts as young as 16 depending on the country.
A player like Reid who does not have a Euro passport can only train with a clubs youth team and cannot play in official matches for them.

Caolan Lavery is gone. He was cap-tied to Canada at the U17 qualifiers in 2009. Under FIFA rules he needed to use his one-time switch to play for NI. Same principle as when Lensky switched.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it, however i'm sure you'll find alot of senior V's  would rather not relinquish a piece of our tradition. If you can't understand that then i'm sorry, but i'm not going to budge on my opposition to you moving our list over to an external site. The info. may be public knowledge, but our seperate, sovereign list must remain on this site. No one is stopping you from posting your list wherever you like, but if you take on the position of maintaining the V's MOACA it should temain on our site, shared or not.
As with anything on this site there should be input from everyone, especially the senior members, contributors, past stewards and leaders.

The idea is that the MOACA list is property of the Voyageurs and that we are the safe keepers of said property. Hosting the list on an external site is essentially outsourcing something that numerous people have worked hard to maintain for this supporters group for almost 20 years.

rob.notenboom clearly there is room for compromise, I am sure there is simply a misunderstanding. But there is no ultimatum at all. A very important part of the site has  been altered without habitual and expected consultation and that should not happen, ever. We let a lot of things slip, incorrectly, because we do not have a legal foundation, so all we have is "common law", accumulated practice as applied in the day to day. And that is what has kept the board alive and new people coming to it.
Asking for that to not be changed has nothing to do with ultimatums.
Another thing is we can be convinced that managing a complicated list like this would be more efficient and easier to read in another format. But propose, explain, test, wait for feedback--then make the change. And even more so when it is a very no rush thread like this one, perhaps the least "urgent" on the site.

I am less opposed to a google doc than I am to it being hosted on another website. Fussball has backed down on that so no need to re-visit that (and thank you for that). Anyways let's wait and get more input on the format.

This. And it is nothing against other people doing great work, it is about some things being worked on for years, decades, collectively, often with a lot of time spent on them. Uninterestedly. Which is why the list should be on this site, on this thread, however uncomfortable that might seem. I do not agree that less than 48 hours after someone asks for relief from the task the criteria changes, like that.
Also, if the criteria is going to change, we need to discuss it. Example: Jamie starts a thread about consolidating threads, cleaning up the site, and then patiently hears out comments that have been dribbling in for a week or so. That is the right way to do it.
If not, I would simply ask again who would like to take over the thread, as is, with freedom to do agreed upon alterations in criteria, and then see what folks have to say. All over again.

Sorry but those are the rules and there is no negotiating. Myself and Joe McCarthy maintained the list on multiple sites when we maintained the list and so can you.
