I wouldn't. I think we'll see cristante before him.. he's a high level LB prospect for chile.

Apparently all we know is that he has a Canadian passport somehow. The issue is that he played for Uruguay's under-17 team back in 2005, so if he didn't have his Canadian passport before then he won't be eligible for a one-time switch.
The issue of a passport actually wouldn't be relevant, the issue is whether he was eligible before his caps (ie had a parent born in Canada). Scott Arfield didn't have a passport before his Scotland caps for example but was eligible for us since birth so it was never an issue.

Michel Acosta has moved to Liverpool fc Montevideo
Nice find! Does anyone know if he's eligible for us? That's a pretty decent sized club for him to be at.

I didn't realize OZ coached that team. I'm going to assume he had a big part in this move considering how quickly he moved from the previous club he was with on trial.
Also interesting this club plays in a 30k seat stadium..

Derek Cornelius has signed a 3.5 year contract with Serbian Super League team FK Javor Ivanjica. They are currently in 6th place in the Serbian table. He has been playing centre back recently with Neumunster. Serbian league is not a bad place at all for a 19 year old especially if he can get playing time. Very good record of developing players and a league where even the flawed players who won't rise higher have a good technique and tactical awareness.

Weird, I just read this a minute ago and was just coming here to post this. Great news for him, I wonder why he hasn't got a look with our U20s..

Yes of course.
How so? Besiktas is in the best club competition with the UCL and features internationals from top countries and while Depor playing Atletico, Real and Barca 6 times is impressive I think the fact you train with a better team week in and out outweighs that. I'm sure many and especially UT will disagree but Besiktas is a bigger club than Deportivo.

Where do you get this from? I was under the impression that he left the team a few months ago.
Maybe you're right, I just saw his bio on twitter and didn't see him on the list.

Allando Matheson is with Harbour View in Jamaica.

What happened to that kid who was at Crawley town last season (or maybe 2 seasons ago) in League One?
Kinda like Mike D'Agostino he had a few matches then just fell off... really weird because that is a good level. Good enough for MNT players, surely you could get a contract in League Two (which IMO is a decent enough level for a CMNT player if they are starting) or back here in Canada.

Not a bad move. I think with regular football he'll find his form again. NASL is getting closer to MLS than MLS is to Liga MX it seems. Checking out some of the rosters there are some impressive players on every side.

More on De Jong's looming move away from SKC. This blogger is speculating he could join a Canadian MLS team, although this appears to be solely based on his passport.

I don't quite know where he'd fit in. I definitely don't see him going to TFC with Morrow and Morgan already there (unless the latter decides to try his luck elsewhere). Montreal has Oyongo and Eric Miller as a reserve I believe? A better chance there, but he wouldn't be an automatic starter - he'd have a battle on his hands. In Vancouver, Harvey and Adekugbe will be vying for the left back role. De Jong is a better player than both, but at a $180,000 salary cap hit I don't believe it'd be worth their while.
If you think of Marcel as a LM/LW rather than a LB, which is realistically where he should be I think he makes sense for TFC. We have desperately needed a left footed wide player for years now. It's important for TFC to have options if they want to be successful, too often they've built the team around a single tactic that either breaks down with depth issues or is exploited by opponents after a few matches.
The way the team looks now it's going to be another year of no width and play down the middle. AKA pray Giovinco produces magic as a trequarista.

Great move for Hume... but De Jong needs to get a club ASAP. If he isn't playing in March I'm not sure who the backup LB is.. Ouimette or Adekugbe?

Here is a video of Cantave in action for Getafe U19 last season against Atletico Madrid. Watch the first 30 seconds, he scores a great goal... looks to be pretty technically skilled but this video doesn't show much other than that.
CD Guadalajara is a great move for him. At 19 it's time to start playing against men and he has every opportunity to see first team minutes at a good level (good enough for Piette to get called). I remember Riki from when JDG was at Deportivo.. pretty good player.

He wouldn't start on any MLS teams barring the deathbed Chivas USA of a few years ago. He has never played top division soccer in his career and he's on the wrong side of 30.
This is MLS... not many guys have played top division soccer anywhere else. He would never be a "sure thing" to start every week but he would probably start more than half the games for most teams. Look at the average MLS starting roster and he has a higher pedigree than most with roughly 70 2. Bundesliga appearances and 45 caps for Canada. Hammarby, Duisburg and Cottbus played in lower divisions while he was there but are all decent clubs too and he always put himself in a position to play week in and week out.

I don't think Ledgerwood in MLS is a stretch based on his play, but outside of signing on as a RB in Vancouver, where he may not be a starter, where else would he go?
Well I wouldn't limit him to just Canadian teams, that's why I referenced the MLS rules working against him. He's exactly the type of utility player most MLS teams could use, think Dan Gargan at LA or Brovsky at NYCFC.. I would take him over both of those guys just as an example.

Yallop is MLS quality. He worked miracles with SJ just 3 years ago winning the SS with an average team and coach of the year, I think much of the criticism has been harsh... his teams haven't done great recently but he also hasn't exactly had quality to work with either. His track record speaks for itself and it is better than most coaches in the league.
He's a "grinder" coach. One I think MLS teams that don't have the money to compete and sign big players can use.
USL is a drop down, sure but as a coach you take the job and $ you can get. You don't just sit around waiting for someone to be sacked.

No offense to FCE but I feel Ledgerwood could definitely play in MLS. It's a shame that roster restrictions have in all likelihood prevented that.

How the hell did he get a 5 year deal with FC Zürich? Must be promising.
