Apparently David Monsalve is now plying his trade in Guatemala with CD Suchitepequez:

Wow, thought Michael Cox was done for good after going back to York. I guess a CIS Golden Boot helps.

Ledgerwood to FC Edmonton is confirmed by the club. http://www.fcedmonton.com/news/2016/01/12/local-talent-and-canadian-international-nik-ledgerwood-signs-with-fc-edmonton?utm_campaign=FC+Edmonton+Website&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_content=1452618231
Next up on my "Canadian internationals that I want to sign with Canadian clubs": Tosaint Ricketts.

DM Jordan Schweitzer, who is born, raised and developed in the United States, but holds a Canadian passport, has been signed by the Seattle Sounders as a home grown player. I'm not the biggest fan of tracking these types of players but I know others like to, so here you are.
And from the Sounders: http://www.soundersfc.com/post/2016/01/07/sounders-fc-signs-defensive-midfielder-jordan-schweitzer-sixth-homegrown-player

No offense to FCE but I feel Ledgerwood could definitely play in MLS. It's a shame that roster restrictions have in all likelihood prevented that.
I don't think Ledgerwood in MLS is a stretch based on his play, but outside of signing on as a RB in Vancouver, where he may not be a starter, where else would he go?

Well this is interesting...

Ledgerwood is free hey? Don't the Whitecaps need another Right back?
I think they do. But I also don't think it makes sense for Ledgerwood to move to a club where he won't be the starter.
-
If Ledgerwood were to play at DM it could make sense for him to move to FC Edmonton. There has been a little chatter about a national team player coming to play in Edmonton, but no idea who it is.

Well, if you're tracking assistant coaches in the Coaches Abroad, looks like Jeff Paulus is missing. Been the assistant coach and academy TD at FC Edmonton since 2012.

Totera is reporting John Smits to Wilmington?

Carreiro left via mutual consent. Have to think he wasn't satisfied with the lack of playing time, and probably saw that it wasn't going to improve. FWIW, Dundee supporters responding to the announcement on Twitter seem confused by the news. http://www.dundeefc.co.uk/news/dylan-leaves-the-club

Well, he already plays for the senior team. You mean senior team of the Rangers?
I meant actually getting on the pitch with the MNT, not just being called up for camps.

Looks like Gasparotto's loan with Greenock Morton is going to be extended through the rest of the year. I think that's a fantastic piece of news, especially given that he will get much more playing time against the same level of competition that he would at Rangers. Sounds like he is impressing as well, just like he impressed at Airdrieonians last year. Have to think it's only a matter of time before he makes his senior team debut.

Tyler Blackwood is a team mate of Petrasso's. Seems like a joke to me with Blackwood pretending to be a fan... if there was any truth to it surely there would be a better means of communication between teammates than a comment on a public photo.
Interesting. Seems a little bizarre that a teammate would do that, especially considering there's no talk anywhere else of him leaving.
-
An Instagram comment by a random soccer fan insinuating Petrasso is leaving? Don't think we can get a much more solid source than that.

Charlie Trafford has signed with Korona Kielce in the Polish first division. A good level for him I would imagine? Also, cue the OMG TRAFFORD IS GOING TO PLAY FOR POLAND rumours

Simon Thomas has signed with Bodo/Glimt of the Tippeligaen on a 3 year deal. Not sure where he stands in the depth chart as of yet. But, good to see him moving up in the world after moving around from place to place his whole career.

And my short suggestion to making the program attractive is to make being a professional footballer in Canada attractive. Show local youth that you can actually make a living out of playing a sport in this country, rather than having to go to Chile or Scotland or France to try and hack it.
Right now there are three clubs in Canada where you can actually make a living wage, for a grand total of 22 players in Canada making that wage or more. Since I don't know what Ottawa and Edmonton pay their players I've excluded them, but I've read the average salary is around $40K, and my personal experience is that living on $40K is doable but not an attractive long term option. (which explains why we see guys like Paul Hamilton and Shaun Saiko who were NASL best XI players in their early 20s retire in their mid 20s)
We need more professional opportunities for local players, which in my opinion means, a domestic league. Not a silver bullet by any means but it can only help.

According to Spanish Wikipedia and Google Translate, he's lived most of his life in Chile. Been with Colo Colo since he was 8. Guessing it's all for naught, but if we're tracking guys like Arfield and Leutwiler, we should track this guy as well.

Apologies if this is elsewhere, I could not find any reference to the player in the MOACA or in any threads, but Cristian Daniel Gutierrez Zuniga (1997, born in Quebec City) has been making regular starts in Chile. Signed through 2019 according to this: https://twitter.com/alejandr0valdes/status/662068809591889920

Michael Nonni is no longer with FC Edmonton (very end of the article). Have to think that's the end of the line for him. http://www.fcedmonton.com/news/2016/01/28/fc-edmonton-adds-english-defender-eckersley-to-fold
