  1. I think the comments are only about this first game where we are the away supporters scrunched into two sections. With home games, the supporters will be in their own end-zone section. All those years at TFC games, I liked watching the groups in the end zone but preferred where I was near the 55 yard line.

Very good article on ten more prospects from League 1 Ontario who would be good signings for the CPL. Story is from the L1O site but I'd agree having seen these players over the years. https://www.league1ontario.com/news_article/show/1009254
  3. I heard at the kit launch for York 9 FC in Newmarket that the supporters would be in the first three rows of the travelling section (I assume that means the Generation IX members). That would look great on television but maybe not for the family groups of York 9 traveling fans behind them if they are waving oversized flags the entire 90 minutes.
  4. Ooh custom lettering up to 15 letters max for an extra $35. So John Candy's hockey character Billy Stemhovilichski could have his name spelled out without running down to his elbow! (great SCTV sketch). Since he lived in Queensville, He'd have been a York 9 FC supporter.
  5. This was in a tweet from CP reporter Neil Davidson. I suppose now Alumni Field may not bother to build a stand on the east side because York 9 FC will not play there.
  6. Might there be more jerseys soon? Goaltenders would wear different colours right? I bought a Toronto Lynx goaltender jersey years ago at an end of season auction...also an outfielder one too. The players wore black on yellow and alternate yellow on black that year but the goalie's wore black on orange. They both had team and league logos. TFC goalies have been wearing a shade of light green for years (although I can't say I've seen a spectator wearing one) and that's not a team colour.
  7. My take on the @York9FC kit reveal in Newmarket. Also includes my interview with Emilio Estevez Tsao and I ask the elephant in the room question (or should I say Mighty Ducks?) about having a movie star name. pics and sound bytes of the presentation included. Also who wears each # kit. http://www.rocketrobinsoccerintoronto.com/reports19/19york080.htm
  8. Well customization of the shirts were available for a price ($34 something? I didn't write it down). Maybe some fans could order a Number 9 and have their own name or nickname put on it? "I want #9 and the name across the shoulders to read Vince". I saw plenty of TFC shirts over the years with names of non-players that I found less silly than 300 lb men in XXX-Large 'Giovinco' shirts.
  9. I need more lessons in posting pictures and commenting together in the same post. Anyway this poster was at the order desk at the York 9 FC kit launch party last night.
  10. Ben Z answered some questions of mine at the York 9 FC kit reveal Thursday night about the away game against Forge FC. I can see my season's tickets for York 9 on the CPL app but not the away game. Ben said that's because the tickets (expecting 1200 travelling supporters! wow!) will be distributed when you get on the bus. For those who make it to the stadium on their own, there will be a York 9 booth in the parking lot where we will be able to pick up our tickets (our names will be on a list). My advice....better bring ID. There will also be four pick up spots for the buses including Pioneer Village subway station. Drivers will be able to park at the 'shopping mall' stop pick ups without worry of being towed. When he said the names of the pick up points will be on the website tomorrow, I stopped writing them down. Pioneer Village TTC from what I've seen has nowhere to park.

  12. At the York 9 FC reveal owner Preban Ganzhorn answered me that 'One Soccer' is the content provider. All games are on that app. He says there will also be over the air broadcasts (but he wouldn't say who/how many will be providing those). He also said there will be better coverage right away on L1O games. I'm used to watching camera on a pole production and doubted there'd be eight camera angles for a crowd of 50 in attendance...maybe once a week? I said...We left it at that.

They're on the border. If a ball sails over the net and north end and rolls over Steeles Avenue, it stops in York Region.
  14. From May 5, 2018 Anthony Novak scores the only goal in the game against Unionville-Milliken. http://www.rocketrobinsoccerintoronto.com/reports18/18l1o044.htm then a playoff game on September 30th also against Unionville-Milliken when he scored an insurance goal. more pictures of him in this game #23. http://www.rocketrobinsoccerintoronto.com/reports18/18l1o247.htm
  15. Novak the first player signed from Oakville Blue Devils. Golden Boot winner. One of about half a dozen I think could have made a CPL roster. Cela played for Sigma last year but was with TFC Academy at least until 2016.
  16. The York 9 one is at Market Brewing Company at 17775 Leslie Street in Newmarket. I expect there will be one in downtown Toronto...special invitation for all the media outlets whose reporters won't be at the opening game April 27th because TFC will be playing later that afternoon.

Yeah I saw that for the first time in years when they sang 'Still Waiting' and record executive played by Will Sasso convinced them number bands were out and they should be 'The Sums'. Sasso would now probably support Pacific FC as he is a BC boy.

Well Sum 41 were from Whitby. Serial Joe were from Newmarket which is one the 9 York counties.

I remember on here maybe 300 pages ago that people didn't like the CPL team names chosen neither. Ooh York 9 FC ? Aren't there eleven on a team? They have to have Toronto in their name etc. Every team choosing a name had it's detractors...now with two days to go those same people are lining up for kits!
  20. We're pleased to invite you to our Inaugural Season Kit Launch Party. Please join us with your friends and family to witness a historic night. Please click on the image above to RSVP by Monday, April 2 @12 pm Sharp. *Registration is required for attendance. Limited Capacity. York 9 Football Club info@York9Football.Club Canadian Premier League …...……………………...…………………………………………...………...…………...………......……………………...………………………………………………. And that arrived in my in box at 3:23pm on Monday April 1st (oh is that the joke?) the 2nd is actually Tuesday! Or is the joke that registration is already over! I tried and it received an automated 'we'll be contacting you'. Hopefully they mean register by Tuesday April 2nd at noon and the e-mail was just prepared by the person who prepared the design of thousands of team postcards of the York 9 FC home matches schedule for Alumni Field (OK I give them the stadium switch may have been unknown at the time) but their first game against Blainville listed as 'Saturday May 22 Time TBD' and then had the Saturday Sharpied out because that is a Wednesday!
  21. http://www.rocketrobinsoccerintoronto.com/reports17/17l1o160.htm Babouli had some time with Sigma FC in 2017. He scored a goal in the above game against OSUF. I like the comment I made based on talking with a Sigma coach about him 'showcasing his talents for the new Canadian Premier League'.
  22. That happened for American teams coming for PDL games against Toronto Lynx/TFC Academy (and FC London and KW United) over the years. That great student athlete from Germany or England playing for an American university and a PDL team in the summer wouldn't be able to play when they made a road trip to Canada. Players aren't paid at the PDL level because of scholarships etc so I don't know how that's related to a 'work' permit.
  23. Looks like Toronto Arrows of Major League Rugby will play the eight home fixtures at York Alumni Field. They were on an eight game road trip and their first home game will be on April 7th. Read that in the Toronto Star today. Good news for York 9 FC in that Arrows can paint the field however they want as soccer will be at York Lions Stadium across the campus. Ahh the Toronto Star! That news was squeezed into a one paragraph blip on their sports scoreboard page. The Toronto Rock lacrosse game was squeezed into another one paragraph story. That's the amount of coverage unfortunately I expect on York 9 FC this season. All sports scores have to be squeezed onto one page. There's only enough room for the MLS Eastern Standings! TFC had their second long story in two days but they were both CP articles by Neil Davidson. The Star reporter Laura Armstrong has taken over Blue Jays coverage and has not been replaced. She still files the odd TFC story. 'No sign of blister problems' screamed the headline completing the two page article on the Blue Jays game.
  24. Well I've heard Unionville (pub night Feb 18th) is part of Markham. Sort of absorbed in the build up. I grew up in Willowdale which was mashed into North York which was then blended into Toronto mega-city over the decades. My house is still where it is! I'm still waiting for the fire trucks to go to the name-alike street just like the mail comes here and my election enumeration cards go to his place. (because they use computer software that prints those postal codes).
