  1. Mathieu Laurent (B'ham Legion/ USL) starts and scores tonight in the 38th minute.
  2. Mathieu has started the last few weeks for the Legion, and appears to have won one of the starting CB spots. He scored tonight with on a nice header following a free kick in the 38th minute.
  3. http://www.firstrows.net/footy/fri-canada-french-guyana-net16997d it's a bit choppy, but i was able to see Junior score his goal just now!
  4. Youngest Bayern goalscorer in over 20 years!!
  5. Holy shit that was dumb! 10 minutes left and you need 2 goals, so you sub on a DM/CM in place of an AM! Can't really say anyone from Bayern looked good tonight. Ribery did nothing. They couldn't get the ball to Lewandowski. Goretzka was invisible after coming in. Very little creativity or offense from any of the Germans. Kovac looked out of his depth. I imagine he will once again be feeling a lot of pressure after that performance.
  6. Where does Eustaquio's recent 3 million dollar transfer fee put him on the all time Canadian list?
  7. ^^ Sure it's not one of the more exciting names that was being bandied about, but if it is him, it's not a development to be easily dismissed either. A 19 yr old, with over 25 appearances in the Eredivisie, now signed to one of the traditional powerhouses in Turkey and who has over 20 caps for Holland's u18-u21 youth teams. We've come a long way in the last few years when a player with this resume and who has other options for playing internationally potentially might commit to us and the news basically gets eyerolls around here!
  8. First player to ever make a pro career based solely on playing "keepy ups" as a kid!!
  9. Nice job. However there's one slight nit to pick: The big 3 in Portugal traditionally are Benfica, Porto and Sporting (not Braga). However in recent years Braga have made a serious case for that group to be expanded and now be considered the big 4.
  10. I don't really have regional ties to any of the teams (from SW Ontario), so I'll consider myself initially a free agent fan, and then perhaps choose a favorite based on how they play during the first season.
  11. News from one of the new expansion USL Championship teams in Birmingham, AL. Birmingham Legion FC announced today the signing of defender Mathieu Laurent. Laurent played center-back as a team captain at UAB and earned a spot on the Conference USA Second-Team following his junior and senior seasons. He also made the All-Conference USA Freshman Team in 2014. Before coming to the States, Laurent was a member of the 2013 Canadian U17 National Team and played in the 2013 U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
  12. Other than the part where Alexi Lalas said: "If he's successful at Bayern it's because of MLS, if he flops, it's because he's Canadian." 😒
  13. I'm not sure that means anything. They play in totally different positions.
  14. I hate to read how unwell he is. It seems like he's intent on self-destructing. I wish he could finally move past the York dismissal and concentrate of getting himself better. Mental health can be a real motherf*cker!
  15. Sorry, I've been offline for couple of days and I just couldn't let some of that garbage slide. Back to Alphonso now, and I'm sure glad we'll have a game to talk about soon.
  16. Wow. You mean like ramming a car into a crowd of peaceful protesters in Charlottesville, murdering Heather Heyer. Was that self defense too?
  17. Trumps exact quote: "When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." He's implying that it's the minority of Mexicans crossing the border that are good people. Wrong. NFL ratings were down 9% last year. But all broadcast networks lost 16% of their viewers. So it's an overall trend of how people are consuming media, not a sign that the NFL is less popular.
  18. And many veterans have come out and said that they have no problem with his protest. That they had proudly fought for freedom. Which includes the freedom to peacefully protest injustices when they see them.
  19. Nike is a global brand. The morons who will protest (and burn shit they already payed for, LoL) are an american thing. You better believe their calculations take that into account. The Kap story plays better to those outside the US.
