  1. All I know is that this kid has bounced around a lot at such a young age. Not a great sign.

Interesting article on Canadian banking sponsorship in pro sports: https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/sponsorship-works-why-canada-s-big-banks-are-sinking-cash-into-pro-sports-branding-1.1243780 I was expecting to see a Canadian bank as 1 of the kit sponsors, so that was a surprise to me. Do we expect the league to announce any other national partners before the start of the season?

I remember at the logo unveiling they said it would be a grass pitch. Have those plans been abandoned? Looks like there are other lines painted on that artificial turf.

I remember listening to an interview with Cherry where he talked about going to an Old Firm derby. Said he loved it.
  6. Article in the Surrey paper on Prasad: https://www.surreynowleader.com/sports/surreys-proud-prasad-plays-internationally-with-fijian-soccer-team/
  7. Which is part of the reason why the rebirth of the NASL started in the first place. Owners were tired of not having any control, started the Team Owners Association, then eventually broke away to form the NASL. To assume that Ottawa could just sell their USL franchise rights and start a 'new' team in CPL is too simplistic. USL would have to approve the sale, then they would have to approve the relocation. Same thing happens in the NHL and NFL. Except in those scenarios it is other owners voting. In the USL scenario, it is Nurock deciding. Why would Nurock allow a relocation when they could just sell another expansion team instead?
  8. I thought I read somewhere that they switched grandstands because of snow. Is that correct? Or is this a season long thing?
  9. This is also what TSN does for all MLS road games. A lot of American MLS teams do this for their local broadcasts as well. So if it happens in the 'higher' leagues, not really surprising that it might happen in CPL.
  10. If there isn't a lot of interest, all the more reason to have the game in Edmonton. For a WCQer, they would travel no matter where the game was. For Nations League, the majority will most likely travel only if it is convenient (Seattle to Vancouver for example).
  11. Any plans for a gathering the night before for those that are travelling from out of town?
  12. I wonder why they went with home/away for the kits as opposed to the more traditional primary/alternate. I would have preferred the later. Play in 1 kit as much as possible to build the identity. My top 5 in no particular order: Pacific Away Edmonton Away Valour Away York Home Halifax Home
  13. Shirt and short combo doesn't work for me either.
  14. Thats fine. But is there any valid reason for it besides wanting to save money?

  16. We have to remember that even though Mediapro is responsible for the production, they are hiring and using Canadian staff. I would assume these camera operators, audio people, graphics people, technicians, etc. may be more familiar with other sports and it may take some time for things to go smoothly. I wonder if they hired a Canadian director or brought in somebody from Spain to run the show.
  17. So....this kid is pretty good. That is all.
