    TFC 2018

The season has begun and begun well with TFC carrying a 2 nil lead into the home leg of the CCL round of 16! A fine headed goal by Jonathan Osorio (assisted by Seba) and a superb side-volley goal from Giovinco (assisted by Auro) along with at least one hugely clutch save from Bono has put TFC in a commanding position to move into the CCL quarter-finals! My only question mark for Tuesday is the pitch!

    Naming the Montreal-Toronto derby.

It's funny that both sides of this derby can't even agree on what to name it. I feel the 401 derby is a terrible name, especially considering there's no 401 highway here. What should it be called? My vote is on The Canadian Classic or Le Classique Canadien, since it translates well to both languages. Though, I have seen some Whitecaps fans get pretty butt-hurt about the name. (I'm not sure if there's a thread debating this yet or not, I couldn't find one.)

    TFC Finances / MLSE Finances

I am interested in better understanding the financial administration side of TFC, and, in part, how the organization is structured vis a vis MLSE. Does any one know where I can find TFC financial statements, auditor reports, annual reports, or any other documents that provide this information?

    MLS 2011 Season Prediction

This was definitely a challenge which took me quite some time but a hell of a lot of fun. I'm going to review this at the end of the season to see how close I was. If you have your own predictions feel free to share. On my blog instead of listing the entire summary on the one post I broke them up into individual posts with links which I think is easier to navigate. You can click on each one of the teams to get my individual team prediction as well. You can see the Toronto FC fan in me by the awarding of 5th spot, wink wink nudge nudge. http://tfcblogger.blogspot.com/2011/03/mls-2011-season-prediction.html 1. New York Red Bulls 2. TFC Roster Against Vancouver

Ok, here is what I think Winter will go with based on what I have seen so far... It's a given that Frei will be in goal and that Attakora/Cann will be in front of him. I doubt De Guzman will be ready to play yet. I think Winter will want the full backs to get forward which most likely will be Omphroy and Gargan. Gargan to me is a no brainer at this point due to his experience in MLS and our lack of depth with experienced full backs at the moment. Winter will want a lot of passing of the ball and possession in the center of midfield and I believe that would be Zavarise, Bouchiba and DeRo. This is the position DeRo played successfully for Houston and this is the position he has been playing in preseason in many cases, basically playing just behind the striker and joining the attack late. On the wings I have Peterson and Martina. Winter will want them to make quick runs, cut into the center and either shoot or feed the main striker which I have has Maicon who to me is a no brainer.

    TFC defeat Red Star Belgrade

Matt Stinson scored the only goal of the game as Toronto FC won 1-0 against Red Star Belgrade of Serbia in preseason action on Sunday. The TFC Academy midfielder’s 41st minute strike earned the Reds their first win of 2011 in the second game of their training camp in Antalya, Turkey. Nicholas Lindsay Primed for MLS Success

On a day in which supporter unrest collided with yet another draw at home, the former Toronto FC Academy forward gave fans some hope for the future and delivered a performance that impressed both his coach and his teammates. Jacob Peterson, who scored the Reds second goal from a cross delivered by Lindsay, believes that the new Toronto winger has everything required to succeed at the MLS level. For Thierry Henry Winning Is Everything

After playing in competitive matches against Houston, Chicago and Los Angeles, the former Arsenal and Barcelona forward admitted that he was looking forward to playing in Toronto at BMO Field. "(Red Bulls keeper) Greg Sutton played for Toronto so he already told me that the atmosphere is great over there (at BMO Field). Having said that, they had great fans at the game in Houston and it was the same in Chicago and in Columbus. Greg has told me that the atmosphere on Saturday is going to be amazing and to expect a tough game as well," said Henry. And while he was quite complimentary of the teams he had played thus far and more than happy to say that he was looking forward to the atmosphere at BMO Field, Henry was clear that his focus was on winning and that getting three points is the main priority. When he was asked whether he was worried about going to Toronto and possibly losing to a team that many would consider inferior on paper, the man who knows so much about winning football games was candid and blunt in his reply. "Paper doesn't mean anything in sports. As you mentioned, they (Toronto FC) have not lost for a while (at home) and they won against Cruz Azul, so you can really see that paper did not mean anything in the midweek," stated Henry. "I think it is going to be a difficult game. They had a good one against us at our place, so it's an eleven on eleven game. We know that it is very difficult to win there." http://www.rednationonline.ca/For_Thierry_Henry_Winning_Is_Everything_august_19_10_article.shtml

  21. RedNation is back with their Toronto FC Podcast Summary: It's the home opener for the T-F-C. The Reds take out a 10-man, expansion-side, Philadelphia Union to grab their first three points of the season. BUT ... there are lots of "buts" ... most notably no goals from open play and few signs of this happening. Tim has a few laughs, Spark's stayin' positive, but Stephe is downright disgusted. What are we in store for this season from what we saw tonight? Victory in New England?

Jeremy Loome predicts TFC's first win of the season: "If TFC can control the flow through the middle by keeping the ball on the ground via DeGuzman, Cronin, LaBrocca and DeRosario, and avoid getting into a wide game as much as possible, it has a legitimate shot at a result." http://www.rednationonline.ca/Victory_in_New_England_apr_9_10_column.shtml

    TFC’s Clean Slate

With 10 of Major League Soccer’s 16 teams in action this Easter weekend, Toronto FC is one of the clubs in the enviable position of receiving a ‘bye’ in the second weekend of league play. To some it might stall any forward progress, but after going down 2-0 to Columbus in the season opener, the two weeks of preparation for their next match should prove critical in putting forth a more organized effort, adding depth and continuing to build a more cohesive unit. http://www.rednationonline.ca/TFCs_Clean_Slate_apr_3_10_column.shtml
