Starting watching SPR games to watch Didic. He is a very calm defender who stays deep and only comes up when necessary. He tends to spread the ball quickly and far when in possession instead of holding on. He also holds possession very well and moves to the goalies side to give him an option when the goalie has the ball at his feet.
He's really impressed he in the 2 and a half matches of his i watched. Hopefully he can get some minutes with SKC but if not I wouldn't be that surprised to see him at another team within the next year or so. Definitely a player I could see starting for Canada. He could probably do with stepping in a bit more often.

You heard of that expression where if you run into an asshole during the day, all that means is you ran into an asshole. However, if you keep running into assholes during the day, guess what, you're the asshole.

2026 could be good for the CanPL.
We will almost certainly be used as a staging area for a lot of teams.
Notawasaga was built for Germany in 1986.
If we play our cards right, maybe we can get a few small stadiums out of this.

For me football lines was a problem but not the only one at University stadium. The track, the turf and only one side having a stand. It is nowhere near first division standards. I'd rather wait another year than have a team play there for a season.

MacLean has spoken about building a facility for CPL, so they've got to be thinking that the current facilities may not cut it in the future

Really awful location for everyone. Would be a good training facility but I'm back on the Centennial train.

Sadly way to bloody far. Fischer-Hallman and Huron. Basically Doon. Whole property comes out to 76 acres. Saying that, it sounds like they would then shutdown Budd Park....

I think it is still grass. They got really close and then I emailed them and showed up at all their little meetings and said KEEP IT GRASS. Soccer fields are the most rented product from the city and it is the biggest earner for the city as well. It's hard to get a good field so I pushed them on keeping at least one grass field available. That's the last I heard. We rented it last year for a Grand River Invitational between KW United and random players.

Duane Rollins suggested there is a place on Union? I think that would be a great spot too, but I don't know where they find space. There have been rumours coming out of Sunlife. So I wonder if they mean that big parking lot there? Would be massive. Right on the LRT line and close to the core.

I'm pretty sure Jack Couch Park is too small(look at the pictures I posted compared to the soccer field right beside it). However the stands could be useful as additional seating outside of what they do/might built. I'm going to work a little in photoshop in the next couple days to make a little plan for the area. Sadly I think the replaced the grass with turf a couple years back.

Love the idea of Centennial. I have been hammering the City to fix it. They keep saying changes are "coming".

Interestingly, next door Jack Couch Park is on the verge of being vacant. The Panthers are desperate for a new stadium. So that's interesting because it gives Centennial more space or even would allow the field to be built in there, like Portland.

How do us grand river folk feel about a centennial revival as a stadium location. It has lots of parking, high way accessibility, and will be a 5-10 minute walk away from a GRT ION stop. It will also already be zoned properly(right?). The track isn't in use anymore so it can be taken out. Space worries me a bit, however I looked it up and the little stands there on the diamond hold ~1500 people so we should be fine.

I remember taking a summer school course at his old high school. Walking the halls and found a board that had all the school track and field records. This would have been in the mid-nineties. I looked through the records and saw that there was one that was much older than all the others (I think the only one from the 80's). Looked at the name and sport. Lennox Lewis, shot put. It made sense that record would stick for a while

Wow missed that the grandstand was gone.  Ran track there in high school.  Also met Lennox Lewis there.  None of this has much to do with anything.

I'm not in Waterloo region anymore, but I'd like Centennial from a sentimental point of view. I went to my first pro game there, Kitchener Kickers in 1991, although I don't remember who they were playing against, or what the score was. My youth soccer team were ball boys. I'd also like Centennial from the point of view of someone that now lives in Toronto, and would like to catch a game or two (either to support a Toronto team if it exists, or just to support KW if there isn't a Toronto team). Like you said, nice and accessible from the highway.

Here are some smaller stadiums which I quite like which I think would be good models to emulate if a team is looking to build.
Toyota Field - San Antonio - 8,000 Capacity
It's small, but it doesn't feel small. You see this stadium packed with people and it looks a lot bigger than it is, which helps with the major league feel at a price you wouldn't expect to break the bank.

    Empire Field - Vancouver - 27,528 Capacity
I've seen this one talked about lots and that's because really it does fit the bill perfectly here. It's got a big enough capacity to last as long as you need and it's cheap. You could build something a bit more permanent under the same type of mold for a very reasonable price and it would work wonders for a team.

Avaya Stadium - San Jose - 18,000 Capacity
If a team is looking to actually spend a bit more, something along this vein looks like an excellent guideline. The luxury suites just a few rows up is likely a very profitable setup while also giving the stadium a unique look.

Fifth Third Bank Stadium - Kennesaw - 8,318 Capacity
Similar to the first. Has a 3-side wrap and a simple bowl format. Looks professional enough, while keeping room open for expansion.

Just some suggestions to throw out there. However they go, I am definitely a fan of a cheap bowl rather than the cheap bleachers feel. Adding something onto at least one of the ends just inherently makes it feel much bigger than it is.

Sees a new CPL general thread, opens it with cautious optimism, only to find out it was two pages on #ProRelForCanada
To be serious for a second, the enthusiasm for CPL is awesome, and we're seeing it all across Canada. But CPL as of today is struggling to determine if it will start with 6 teams, 8 teams or 10 teams. And based on what we've heard about CPL, and what we know about L1O and PLSQ, and based on what we've seen with previous Canadian soccer leagues, there is next to zero chance that CPL will start off with pro/rel in 2018 or 2019.
If you browse through the rest of the CPL sub-forum, you WILL find that there was a lot of discussion about whether pro/rel could be eventually implemented 10-30 years down the road, if CPL turns out to be the smashing hit that we hope. For me, the one key thing that CPL has to get right in 2017 is make sure that the league doesn't go with a pure single entity structure, and the little signs we have seen point to CPL avoiding that route. Avoiding single entity will go a very long way 10-30 years from now on being able to implement a CPL2 and pro/rel eventually. Hope that sounds reasonable.
