I'm sorry to hear that the threats are getting personal between the two of you. I do think that you can deal with the issue yourself or take it to Facebook or the police or a similar body if you need, but I think you can see that this forum isn't going to go after anti-CPL trolls in a mob-like manner just because he says things that we disagree with.

I do because a) he's unimportant, if he bugs you troll him back b ) why bring attention to him c) that's doxing which is really unethical in this context and I don't think these boards should be used for that

As long as they can cover the football marking for the games then it's fine. I think 12k is more than enough Capacity for CPL, and the league would be very stupid to not be looking for a Québec ownership group.

Being a big city does not immediately mean your team will do better financially and attendance wise. You only need to look at CFL to see that.

MLS generally does not pay transfer fees except for significant signings. CPL clubs are not going to volunteer their best talent to MLS for no return.
It is exciting though how many new paths will be opening up for Canadian players. Before 2007 it was "go to Europe and hope for the best".

In an Ideal world CPL and Canadian MLS clubs are making pipelines for players to go pro. The ideal world can have players moving up to MLS as a stepping stone but it really doesn't have to be MLS after CPL. In fact with the way MLS contracts are structured it's a bad stepping stone and more of a good final destination if that's where your talent level is. CPL and MLS won't need to work together anymore than the SPL and EPL do.

Competitors to some extend. Bill Manning took the first shot by saying as much. It's not about national pride or any of that none-sense, but simply business. They are competing for viewership, attendance, merchandise, domestic cups, potentially players and media attention.
Sports, is a business remember that

Kurt is wrong if those players are Canadian, that's what CPL is for, giving Canadians a chance. It's going to be below MLS level so those types of players would be good for 2 reasons.

    1. Having made a MLS roster at some point they've shown some talent and will be low risk for a CPL team

    2. Since they were on MLS rosters more people will know about them and it could generate some buzz.

For example imagine Ashton Morgan is cut from TFC, he would be a very good player for the league and Canadian soccer fans would also know him from his time with Canada and TFC so he would be good for marketing.

This is going to absolutely kill expansion teams to the CanPL. Ultimately, if Québec City does get a team, and wants to recruit local talent, they're going to either wind up with massive salary hits in transfer fees, or a whole whack of PLSQ talent that is not going to fill their stadium (Or as you say - both). You're right - that is a brutal position.
Agreed 100%. Piette is one example. Hainault is another. The guy is a starter on our MNT (or was), but is in the German D3. Gagnon-Laparé is easily good enough to start in CanPL, but plays in the French D3. Ultimately, their individual skill and value to a club should determine their worth, not an arbitrary designation by an officiating body.

Pretty much, the problem with affiliation here is that loans can happen from whoever from wherever, affiliation implies a two way street and the beginnings of a farm. A loan means the parent lends the player to another club and usually they share costs. To whoever, where ever. It's a single transaction that carries no weight by either club. No club holds an excessive amount of sway over the other, or how the club uses that player.
An affiliation however tends to imply the beginnings of a farm relationship. Not only am I going to loan players to you, but I'm going to to a degree dictate the systems I want you guys to run with (so if a player moves up, they know what to expect) and you aren't going to sell your players to other clubs, or will talk to us first before selling and I'll parachute money down to you from time to time for it. The hooks aren't quite all the way in, but to think the larger affiliate doesn't have some degree of influence is mistaken. That said, there is no true measure about just how little or how much sway an affiliate will hold. Certainly when it gets to a degree where the identity of the team is nothing more then an extension of the bigger club (See Windsor TFC) it becomes more like a farm, but where there is a very arms length approach (See the Ottawa Fury, where it's easy to forget they are an Impact "affiliate") it's more palatable.

The problem is that defeats part of the purpose of the CPL. It's not just to develop Canadian talent, it's to develop the game in Canada. It's so that several independent owners, can not only grow our national team, but to foster civic pride in teams across our nation and not just be part of a funnel that leads to one of three places in our rather large country. To make owning a team an attractive endevour for a local business presence that doesn't have a 100 million dollar check to write and to give our Soccer Canada more sway, management and backbone to expand the game even further.

I've wondered about the Litts - Michael owns Vidyard, loves the area.
The other would be Ted Livingston. Own's KIK. Worth over 1b. Also a massive area booster.

I still maintain that strong, sustained action by Fury supporters is what will make this happen.  I get that there may be valid (and different) arguments for the Fury and FC Ed to stay on their current trajectory, but the growth potential for CPL has to be better than riding USL or NASL into mediocrity.  And the more vocal and active you guys can be, the better.
    Viva la revolution!
