Alright, sorry for the poor quality and rants, hope it's a little informative. I've already figured out pretty quality when recording my screen so next time(if it happens) will be better. If I got anything wrong let me know.

I would love for this to happen. I'm still disappointed in the Impact for not having a team in PLSQ. And I'm disappointed in the Whitecaps and Impact for not having their youth teams in local leagues. It's in there best interests to grow the local game, and it would help with scouting as well I'm sure, so it's disappointing that they play in American leagues instead. Does anybody know how often the youth teams play local clubs? Like in tournaments or at least friendlies or something? I hope it happens, but I don't know one way or the other.
Anyways, to bring this back around to CPL, I'm hoping with CPL teams sprinkled across the country it will help build the development infrastructure across the country. Perhaps create more urgency/motivation to have more regional D3 leagues like L1O and PLSQ, and hopefully raise the level of top level youth leagues bit by bit across the country.

Exactly, developing players for the national team is important but so is growing soccer culture in this country. This great sport of ours is about more than just being the best or even being good it's about bringing the community together. As for second teams being in the league I've always been against it for multiple reasons. 1st it's bad for the league's image, it would set it clearly in minor league territory. 2nd, I don't think they would be anywhere near competitive, VWC2 and TFC2 were USL bottom feeders this year and rumor is many USL teams have total payrolls short of 700k a year. 3rd, I believe it would hurt other teams, what casual fans wants to see their local team play a 2nd team. 4th having independent teams in MLS markets would push competition more, while second teams in the league would prop up the MLS teams monopoly in the market.

However I believe at the youth level MLS teams and future CPL teams should compete together. For example I'd like to see Ontario CPL teams to put senior academy sides in L1O like TFC3 is. I'd also like to see the impact's oldest academy team along with any CPL  teams in Quebec(or Ottawa) to play in the PLSQ. I'd like to see similar things happen around the country with regional youth focused senior leagues(like L1O) being home to smaller market senior teams and pro teams 2nd/academy teams.

Hey everyone, I've made a map with all the potential CPL markets that either have either grassroots support or some sort of ownership group we know about. I've attached teams to future/potential stadium locations. I've also added a layer with road trips within the east/west. Hope you guys like this. Let me know if there's anything I could add or if anything is wrong.

Not at all. No looks from the Eskimos. I've asked the Oilers Ent. Group and there is no interest on their part. I asked Tom yesterday if he's ever thought about selling, and he said no one has ever even come forward with any kind of offer, so he kind of laughed it off.

Basically, I find it frustrating when we sit back and say "find other investors" like that's easy. Soccer is an exceptionally bad investment. We all know that. Finding soccer investors in Canada who would be serious is like finding needles in a haystack. You need to find people worth hundreds of millions (at least) willing to lose tens of millions (at least). If you guys know of those people, maybe a guy at the bar who says he's got like $100 million to burn, please put their names out there for us. If we don't, we shouldn't say "find investors!" like it's easy.

Actually, Tom Fath IS indeed what we'd consider a big-money guy. Fath Industries, O'Hanlon Paving... In terms of finding deeper pocketed owners in Edmonton, you'd be hard pressed to find them.

I think He's fine, he has been willing to lose money before he/they just need evidence that there's a path to making money or at least breaking even. Canadian sponsors in the CPL will be exposed to a market much larger as home and away games will be in front of Canadians so profits from them could be much higher. Not to mention travel costs could likely be halved a season, he said a game's travel costs could be as high as 50k per game in NASL; let's say average is 25k-30k. That's 400-500k a season just for team travel where as seasons in CPL could probably cost half that.

I do think having another investor involved could be nice for for an Edmonton team but the Eddies are already pretty established and have a good academy, maybe a slight rebrand could go a long way with the improved corporate potential of CPL over NASL.

I am pretty sure that comment is more pointing at how the NASL isn’t sustainable and the City of Edmonton didn’t support the team. it isn’t possible to make money with a stadium that won’t even hold 5,000 people. So what Fath is saying, is that he needs help from Edmonton for a better stadium. The Faths need the city of Edmonton to provide some money for upgrading the stadium. So far, it has been all Fath. The Faths fully paid for expanded seating and Edmonton didn’t help with any improvements.
What the CPL needs to take away from this is the need to provide marketing for the league itself. They need to advertise on major tv networks. The league also needs to get a proper tv or streaming deal, not one that they receive money for, but one that gets viewers. The viewers will drive corporate sponsorship for the teams. It doesn’t matter if they give the TV rights away for nothing; the viewers are more important than the money for the deal at first.
if the CPL can get these things right and Edmonton will help out a bit with the stadium, I think we might see FC Edmonton again. But, if any of these things are missing, I don’t think the Faths will be back. I still believe we might see FC Edmonton in the first year of the CPL. But they need to show the sustainability in ways that I just mentioned.

The rumored spot for this stadium is different than the pop-up stadium. However i think if they build an actual stadium they would rather have more events to even out costs of a big CFL stadium. Interesting to see how this turns out.

He's a loooong way from that happening. For instance, Marcel de Jong was a winger in PSV academy once upon a time...Will Johnson scored a goal per game in the Eredivise reserve league with Jong Heerenveen as a 19 yr old. He'll have to push through a bunch of prospects at Jong PSV to even get on the bench. And if he does all that, he'll have earned it.

Further to @ReedOnTheGrand's explanations of stadiums. I present another amazing opportunity in KW:

This is probably my favourite option for a site. The site will take years of brownfield development before it can be fully usable for residential and Auburn itself is known for taking awhile to get things going (see the Arrow Lofts and Barrelyards Development). At the back of the site is a railroad track, which also won't be great for residential but perfect for something like a stadium, where a train coming by once and awhile is fine. It's close to downtown and right on the LRT line. It's also close to the Iron Horse trail and a favourite Grand River Union brewery, Together We're Bitter Brewing Co-op.
I think a modular stadium could pop up in this location very quickly. It would be a great way segue for Auburn and fantastic for city access.
