I can already see it. You are going to have an absolute meltdown about the team we end up calling in.
I’m sorry to say it but our team is going to look nothing like that and you should prepare yourself for that.
Your right the team will probably look alittle different. But even with CNL we will probably lose 1-3 players. Millar and Ballou didn’t even sub in last senior game. Fraser and Okello are really below the depth charts. At right back we will get either ZBG or Godinho both are good players. I can see us losing Davies and David. But really that should be it if the qualifiers during the FIFA window. Now if The qualifier it’s not during the window, the roster will be very interesting.

I don’t understand, how does this relate to the CSA? Are you saying this kid is better than some who’ve been called at his age? Have you seen him play? Or is this just your regular schtick?
It relates because he was scouted by Romania and they got him. Why didn’t the CSA scout him. On wait the U17 was basically MLS Academy players. How many times are we gonna read articles about other countries scouting and reaching out to young players and we hear nothing about the CSA doing that. And I know what you’re going to say well how do we know that they didn’t well if they did he would have sent it and seems like good chance he would play for us.
I have seen video and he’s a good player.

Everyone should read this. Why can’t the CSA get their shit together in the scouting.

From the ProSoccer article:
"When he was 10, David joined the Gloucester Dragons Soccer Academy, and then in 2016 he played for the Ottawa Internationals Soccer Club program. It was there he was spotted by the Belgian side KAA Gent, who signed him to a professional contract in January 2018.
David’s story highlights that Canada, despite its three Major League Soccer teams, still has plenty of cracks when it comes to youth development — cracks that national team head coach John Herdman hopes the newly-created Canadian Premier League will fill when it kicks off in April."
While cracks may indeed exist, using David as an example is hogwash. He was well known to Canadian Soccer people/fans before his move to Belgium, and was playing for youth national teams well before his move to Belgium. Maybe I'm misremembering, but wasn't he actually spotted while on international duty?
Ya he was very good at the CONCACF U17 tourney

Maybe but probably not based on our current form and momentum. Anyhow, before delve further into this, is this rule change seriously being considered by FIFA?

there was talk about it.

Lol, at the expense of opening up the huge floodgate of losing all our currently cap tied players that are eligible for other countries?
I understand the The potential fear , do you think players would jump ship though, We have a really good roster pool and great chance at making the World Cup 2022 and we have the World Cup in 2026.

I thought he was an absolute revelation today. Hardly put a foot in wrong, and he had a lot to deal with on his side, often in tight quarters. He was quite good going forward as well. Very impressive overall.
His speed was amazing. When he took off with the ball down the middle, I thought he was gonna go end to end. Finally we have some RB’s he and Godinho are no joke!

I’m surprised we didn’t see him sub in last night. I hope he’s part of the U23 team! That team has the potential to win a medal at the Olympics if they use our best players

How comes Bryan Crisante is regarded as one who got away?
Born and raised in Italy, played youth level for Italy all the way from U16 to full international,
Has a passport through his father
How is he regarded as a Canadian?
3 simple reasons
1- cuz he could have been arguably Canada’s best midfielder right now.
2- he’s more connected to Canada then just a passport. He has been to Canada plenty of times, his brother lives in BC
3- he says and promotes he’s CANADIAN !

Ya I agree but we have a lot of strikers. Cavallini , Larin , Millar, David, Akindele, Ricketts, Haber and that’s just at the senior level. There are some young players coming like Perruzza, Bair, Hundal and others

i would say if it was possible, we have a 5% chance at best. italy was his dream, he's reached it and i think he'll fight to keep it for as long as possible.
Your probably right and I don’t blame him at all! Good for him. Wish he made the squad this break.
It’s clear now we need Tomori, Ferreira , Gutiérrez and Bassong ASAP!

While pleased he's still actively promoting his Canadian roots, I think it's best to just accept he's not coming. Even if the rules were changed, he's managed to earn 6 caps for Italy, including a pair in official matches.
It is a curious thought though. If the rules were too change, what would be our chances of changing his mind. With the lineup we have and we have the World Cup in 2026. Matty would you say 50/50 still ? If you were a betting man ?

I knew that Zambrano was working hard to recruit him but I thought I heard the connection was distant. Basically that his father or grandfather was from Canada. I actually had no idea that he was coming to Canada for family visits, etc.
Hearing that breaks my heart a little more 😪
Father is Canadian and I think his brother is living in BC - I know someone claiming to be his brother slammed Canada for not not calling duels when they are young

I think there's someone in South Korea's program but can't remember what the fucking story was or even who it was (I think his mom was born here). Anyone got anything on that?
Also just to be that guy, Cristante's ties were stronger than tenuous iirc. He's visited Canada for family reasons a good number of times and apparently still does as of 2017.
