That's his (and Cordova's and Boakai's) agent being quoted there. Might not be as far off as you think.

La'Vere Corbin-Ong has signed with Go Ahead Eagles, who were relegated from the Eredivisie last year. Great move for him IMO, especially if they can get promoted this year.
He is really making some smart career moves; sign where you can get minutes, then move up the ladder. Wish more Canadian players made moves with a similar mindset.

Looks like Hirschfeld has stopped playing and is now an assistant coach with KFUM. If it is indeed the end, congratulations on a great career with club and national team. Our best gk in the past 15 years.

I'm going through the Canucks Abroad database for an article in an attempt to identify where each player trained. I've noticed one player who needs updating, I'll post more as I notice them.
Ross Harvey has moved from Geelong SC (AUS) to Auchinleck Talbot FC (Scotland) which is 6th (?) division

French father, no evident link to England. May have a good shot at these kids as the French will probably have a lot more options domestically.

So anyways, how about we track some mothafuckin Canadians, shall we?
Canadian-Argentinian MF Miguel Romeo, who played last year with Calgary Foothills, is currently playing with Kultsu FC in the Kakkonen. Along with Calgary Foothills, Romeo has played with Central and St. Anne's in the T&T Premier League, and with Pasaquina in the El Salvadorian Primera Division. You could say he's yo-yo'd in the T&T Premier League or something.
Noticed him as Miguel Romero in the MOACA list. Gave me an excuse to use the words "track some mothafuckin Canadians" and try and re-rail this thread.

Of course Depor is a huge club, just like Stuttgart so I've argued once. However I think Besiktas is the bigger club of the two.
But the original question was about the level. And the competition Deportivo faces is clearly higher-level than Besiktas. You can talk Champions League all you want, fact is the top half of Primera Division IS Champions League level and possible the league as a whole.
Or to put it in Wiki-terms:
    Spanish CL-Victories: 16 (11 runners up)
Turkish CL Victories: 0 (0 runners up)
13 Spanish teams have participated in the modern Champions League, against 5 Turkish clubs. Heck Deportivo participated 5 times since 2000, Besiktas 6 since '97 so that is not even that far apart, whereas it is way harder for a Spanish club to qualify than one of the traditional top-three Istanbul-clubs.
