  1. TFC played very well at times in the 3-2 loss.  Zavaleta was taken off at half after a very shaky start.  Ciman played well except for one useless slide tackle.  Delbado has a couple of really nice touches and about a half a dozen horrible ones.  Please for the love of God start Chapman.  Chapman came off the bench with good energy and looked dangerous.  Pozuelo and Jozy hook up for 2 goals and Pozuelo hit a great strike at the 93rd that forced Frei into a great save.  Ciman also drilled one off the post in added time.

  2. Two can play at that game 😉

But ask anyone with the squad and they’ll tell you that the 23-year Brazilian’s value is sky high.

“I think he has the capacity to be one of the best right backs in our league, if not the best right back,” said coach Greg Vanney. “He’s a nice weapon to have.”

  3. Interesting.  Bradley drops down to TAM level and you keep Robben for one additional year at 3-4 million?! Then he’s gone and they can reinvest in a Pozuelo type who is in the prime of his career.

In spite of his age his skill level would probably still allow him to contribute significantly to TFC like Zlatan in LA for a year and a half.  Would love to see him in person even if only for a year and a bit.

  4. Getting lost in semantics. Happy with Laryea and pleasantly surprised with his play at RB today.  I would not announce him as better than Auro based on one game Athletically, technically, skill wise whatever, if we were playing for the MLS cup I would have Auro at RB over Richie 100% of the time based on what we have seen to date.

  5. Was at the game. Just disagree that from one outing a guy who couldn’t get on the field with one of the shittiest teams in the league is miles more athletic than Auro who has consistently played on one of the top teams In the league.  Great that he played well and hope for good things.

  6. Played well. Not sure he is more athletic than Auro.  Why was Auro out - is he hurt?

dont get me wrong happy Laryea played and well and it would be great if he could play his way into the conversation for the CMNT but doubt he unseated Auro based on one good performance.

  7. A point.  Team dominated stretches of play and needs to create more chances in the final third.  Pozuelo looked more human today with all 4 of his corners being terrible.  Laryea looked good. Not sure what Bono was thinking on the first goal and for F$&&s sake can we nail Delgado to the bench and start Chapman.

  8. Thanks for doing this!  Miss the Canadian Power Rankings - are those no longer being calculated.  Believe it was done by Steven Sandor on one of the Canadian soccer sites.  It is interesting to compare the number of minutes Canadians are getting in MLS and USL ... from year to year.

  9. Pozuelo’s performance was in the words of Ray Hudson majesterial.  Couldn’t have hoped for a better start and it is obvious he is class. Also demonstrates in my mind that injuries played a massive role in our performance last year.  Moor bossing the back (Ciman on the bench), Mavinga shaky at times but getting back to his all star form and we now have a younger healthier Vazquez.  Things are looking up.

  10. The weather makes almost zero difference unless we are playing in the NWT and then it would affect our team as much as the opposition. During CCL the last 2 years TFC have won, lost and tied teams from Mexico and Panama during some absolutely horrible shit  weather.  Its not like the opposition rolled over and let us run up a 6-0 score line on them.  Every game was close.

Play the games where we can minimize the support for the opposition OR make enough money to start having some frickin friendlies.  If that is Toronto - great.  If that is BC - great.  If that is Commonwealth - great.  We are moving in the right direction and playing games period should be the goal of the program.  It's hard to qualify for the WC when your team has no cohesion because they have only ever played as a squad a couple of times.

  11. Actually either one is a decent option at this point.  I was able to watch one of Godinho's games and in that match he was pretty solid.  ZBG did fine in BC and hopefully he will get some half decent playing time in Montreal this year.  Maybe one will start progressing over the other and become a lock but right now they are both capable and it is a good problem to have.

  12. Finally a resolution.  While I agree with Obinna that his on field play was generally very good,  at least the distraction is now dealt with and player and team can move on.  Hope this means we are getting either a stud winger or defender with the money now available.

I'm pretty sure the VAR ref said it was not a penalty

Not necessarily but he felt strong enough with the call on the play to alert the field ref that he needs to watch the replay as it might change his original decision. Would be interesting to see the percentage of his calls that the match referee overturns after being told by the VAR guy he may have missed something.  You would think it would be well above 66% but when I think about it, it seems lower.

  14. Cornelius is young and needs pt to improve, and that pk wasn’t a penalty.  Dos Santos knows this will be a long year and they are building for the future.  Cornelius needs opportunities.

  15. The competition for England is severe.  Tomori would walk on our team and start all important games.  Hopefully this isn’t a        s Cristante situation where a few guys get hurt, he gets a call up and plays his one and only game with their national team.  More likely is that Nigeria makes a big push and we lose him there.  Or he comes to his senses and commits to us and leads our D in the World Cup.

  16. I can’t think about the lack of games anymore.  How a country in our position economically and one that supposedly supports athletics can allow our men’s representatives in the biggest sport on the world stage to not maximize the opportunities is a travesty.  We have all the momentum in the world going for us and next to no media coverage largely in part to the fact that the team rarely plays. Maybe Vic created the Concacaf LON to force Canada to play.
