  1. TSN broadcast during game just now said a couple of friendlies expected before Gold Cup. Guess that unasked question last night at the gathering is answered hah
  2. Looks like he made it to YVR after all. Hard to question his commitment to the team if he's flying half way across the world to cheer on the boys. Great to see
  3. "The kid was devastated. As a coach you're always upset, but you can look down this roster and there's some really good players to step through. But I was just so gutted for him. He was so excited to come back. He had some tears on the phone. He actually couldn't finish his sentences. Someone else picked the phone off him at one point. You feel for him because this meant a lot to him,” concluded Herdman." https://concacafnationsleague.com/en/article/canada-boss-herdman-sees-opportunities-for-others-amid-davies-absence John really going into detail. Tough for Davies but good to see how much repping Canada means to him
  4. A couple morning-after points from our pitch-side vantage: * Field was incredibly bumpy. I know we always talk about pitch quality away in CONCACAF, but in-person it's much more obvious of an issue. Lots of passes bouncing over feet or changing direction last-second, making it hard to play one-touch. Yes we had more-defensive MFs playing in attacking roles due to Oso/Scotty missing, but a lot of the timidity in central MF seemed to be borne out of caution to minimize counters. Team was very vocal when a SKN got anywhere near a canMNT and saw a lot of backpasses rather than turns upfield (SKN much more aggressive / successful on these balls). As frustrating as it was to see lack of aggressiveness going forward it was clear Herdman wanted them thinking defence first. * SKN was very physical and finished many tackles pretty late. Surprised there weren't more yellows on both sides. * As others have stated need to see Davies more forward up the field. When he's attacking one-on-one and has an overlapping teammate offering an outlet / drawing defenders he was very dangerous. Could have had one or two if not for their keeper. * Shaky start but by 2H could see/hear the team was much more confident on the ball and moving better off it. Created at least three clear chances they should have potted. A lot of people like to take the pessimistic angle but given SKN only had a couple of half-chances (at best) and we created much better in 2H this could have easily been 3-0. * Friendly hosts, no issues at all. Pales in comparison to horror stories from Central American away games.
  5. He's definitely focused on it. These were posted in public hallway at team hotel
  6. I'm heading down Friday, and believe @markeelliott is already down there. Will try to post pics from the game here, but definitely will be some on my Twitter
  7. two please... convinced the girlfriend to join. bit more of a pull for a long weekend than Braderton hah
  8. Don't believe so, but who knows if we've crossed paths at past games...
  9. Yep. Will try to post a bunch of pics. https://twitter.com/manikas
  10. Great, thanks Jamie. Feel free to connect me with them if easier on you. Will PM you my email.
  11. just posted in the game thread... but I'll be heading down as well. Anyone pull the trigger on that AC sale? @socceronly do you ever work the CSA on away tickets for a match like this? Imagine it's just too small relative to WCQ/Gold Cup but maybe you know who to reach out to at the CSA...
  12. I'll be heading down as well. Flying out the following Monday afternoon. Anyone else? @markeelliott have you locked down tickets? Doesn't seem like there's a way to buy them online. Guess we just show up at the box office and hope it isn't the hottest ticket in town hah
  13. Sorry to hear it, hope you're back on your feet soon. Unfortunately I can't make it tonight either guys. Was really try to make it work but didn't come together. Enjoy the tailgate and have a few Molsons for me. Here's hoping that potential 3-0 forfeit win sends us on the way to Philly in a few weeks for a QF
  14. Thanks @Olympique_de_Marseille. Waiting on confirm from others in my group; may end up just being me so could grab Jamie's ticket (if available) or buy a single in that case. Will let you know when settled on my end.
  15. Haven't bought either but have 2-6 people interested so happy to settle on that section if others agree
