Victor Blasco said to be headed to Pacific FC.  I’m guessing he’s an adopted BC guy now and has been there since his release from WFC2?

Anyone know why he was released?  I remember he was a top player for the 2nd team and turning heads and then seemed he just stopped playing.  Barcelona product - would be a nice addition to the league and probably cheap.

Close source said he fought with Bustos post match and took things too far and was released.

    Interesting call

Odd that he is listed on transfermarkt as going from "without club" to "unknown club" September 25 2018.

He's also playing on Vancouver Island for Mid Isle Mariners in the VISL. The team is coached by Bill Merriman, father of Pacific FC assistant coach, Jamie.

Hooper already posted something along the lines of "I'll be back at it" or something, probably indicating an unsuccessful trial

I mean... without deflating too much wind from his sails if you look at this guys twitter he has a less than ideal soccer physique.

Hammond from the open trials just tweeted this. I wonder if he's signed or invited to the training camp.

Fellow trialist Aaron Hooper also posted this.

Serious money on neither of them playing in the league. This is just twitter optimism

Do you guys really think MLS is that crap a league that a German 4th division player is going to walk in and get playing time?  Tiebert, Chapman, Hamilton, AJH, Edwards are all players who struggle for playing time on Canadian sides.  Is Elva better than any of them?  Look, I hope for the best for the kid, and if he can come to MLS and play - all the better.  But I honestly can't see him coming over and get regular playing time anytime soon.

Happened with Marinovic at the Whitecaps...

Denmark has a top tier league? Or were you refering to Sweden? Atiba had to work his way through the scandanavian circuit before making it.

Top tier - as in top of the national pyramid in a given country.

    Impressive again by MAK.

Really strong start to the season.

I can't help but see a young Atiba Hutchinson when I watch him. He even moves in the same way. Has similar technique.

Like I said before, he is not at Hutchinson's level, but if he can have even half the career Atiba did, it would bode well for us.

Stylistically, he is just so similar.

Him and Piette = the next Hutchinson and JDG?

If you mean next Hutch and JDG at a MLS standard then sure. At the same point in both their careers Hutch and JDG were starting in top-tier European leagues.

Have all been called for Canada. This is extraordinarily productive. Also not counting guys who are likely to be called at some point like Marco Carducci, Daniel Stanese and David Norman Jr.

Carducci still has a considerable distance before making it back into camp, let alone getting a cap

I somewhat disagree with this. The Canadian MLS academies have produced some quality players over the last five years or so. The fact that many of them are not regular starters is a whole other story, but I think some of it will change come this season. At least a few, (those that are high-quality) will likely get more playing time and maybe some will be starters. I'm looking at guys like Raheem, Ballou, Jackson-Hamel(a likely starter throughout the season and likewise Osorio). Davies, may get there too, who knows later in the season, but most likely will be coming off the bench for the majority of times. These names are some very decent level-talent, imho anyways. If you look at the next generation from the MLS academies, there seems to be some very good talent there (talking guys late 90s, early 2000s). Though, I do agree 100% that we need our own domestic to take things to a whole other level and just take off from there from what we are doing now. The MLS academies are doing the best they can in developing/producing talent for the CANMNT, but we can't just rely in them, as you mention it is a very small pipeline indeed. We gotta make it more accessible from coast to coast these professional opportunities to aspiring Canadian footballers and be able to pursue comfortably their dream careers at home without any BS restrictions imposed by the MLS (not considering like at lest 90% of Canadians domestic in U.S. based teams), hence leaving many promising skilled CANMNters to ply their trade in lower-division leagues (USL, NASL anyone) where their skills are often too good for those leagues. Canadian-based MLS teams can only accomodate too many players. And the MLS teams should do better in integrating their youth to the first team and providing much more playing time than what they regularly get. Note, this is not only restricted to the Canadian MLS teams, the other day in Extra Time Radio, MLS insiders mentioned that it is also a recurring theme in U.S.-based teams, as many are now leaning to bringing middle-to-above-skilled young South Americans  to produce results right away as opposed to trusting and giving opportunities to their youth. Maybe CANPL can take note of that and avoid these same mistakes.

I'd be hesitant to put Osorio into this category. We spent a good portion of his formidable years in Uruguay with Nacional.

No.  They'll have dozens of D3, PDL, and CIS teams to choose from (not to mention foreign leagues), and how players perform there will be far more of an indicator than a couple tryout sessions would be.

Disagree. Over the past decade USL and MLS clubs have routinely hosted open tryouts. Generally, this has been a tool to see local talent and give out of contract / recovering players a chance to have a second look. I'd imagine many CPL teams would be doing something similar.
