Yes but it is incredible dedication, the sacrifice is huge. I doubt any make enough to live properly, though they may have an apartment from the club or some small perk. In any case, you have to be very convinced to give it a shot, since even if you end up in 2nd tier in a few years, which would be a big step up, you are still at a very modest level.

I love this initiative, and will be there!
I suggest we bring our drums, a few of the larger flags, and a banner. Possible?
@socceronly please let us know how we can support making this a special night

Ethiopian-Canadian Dawit Genet has siged with Panegialios GS in the Greek 2nd tier. He had a trial with the Vancouver Whitecaps II a few years back. I think he also played college soccer in Canada as well.

We are planning, for the second leg of this series in Oakville to show up in force to welcome these two teams to The Voyageurs Cup for the first time. This marks an important and historic development in the competition.
More details will be made available as we make arrangements and the venue and times are finalized.
The game will be on June 13th.

Toje mentioned this to me, then forgot to post it here. Or was going to get to it. Or maybe left it to me:
Chaim Roserie has signed for Alcoyano in Spanish 2B, third tier:
http://www.diarioinformacion.com/deportes/2018/01/27/alcoyano-ficha-interior-zurdo-chaim/1982228.html
Roserie is a short 19 year old playing attacking mid, who was playing for Jacksonville Armada last season, while studying.
Actually the Alcoyano division includes teams from where I am, though they don't visit near Barcelona until April. A very strong team who have been close to getting promoted to Spanish 2A, well run club and good fan base. And a simple, decent stadium. Nice place for the kid to go.

Higher salary in this case doesn't necessarily mean higher level of play of the league when it comes to comparing with d4 spain or italy. There are many reasons why the salary is higher. 360+ teams in d4 spain with 122 teams above… Saying those usl players are of higher level means they are at least d3. First, even if 5-10 players on half of the teams are of higher level it doesn't mean that the league is of higher level. There could be plenty of players in d4 spain who could play higher. Then, take a team and identify those 5 players. Take Louisville City who are currently first in the east and have no affiliation with an mls team. Which 5 players would be starters in a d3 out there… Del Piccolo was a d4 sub in germany, Craig played d6 in england, Lancaster a d4 and d6 sub england before coming and has 6 usl goals this season…Unfortunately a lot of overestimating pro leagues here and not understanding that the level of training and development is much much higher there which means that even lower leagues are of high quality

When I watched USL this summer, all I thought was how much less pressure there was on the ball defenisvely, it was soft, players had time. They also seemed to be pacing themselves for long spells--or coasting. Spanish 2B, or third tier, has a higher pace and defensive mentality, more pressure on the ball, sharper overall sense of tactics, and better decision making. It is not pretty, because your rival does not let you get fancy.
