What I love most about David is that he doesn’t seem the ego-type, miffed that Davies is getting the hype.... he’s just going out and killing it himself and letting his play demand attention! It is so refreshing!

That was a stronger FG team, which included Privat and Baal, who are not going to be in Vancouver.
Do you know if Kevin Rimane is going? I see him listed on Soccerway, but I know that those lists should be taken with a grain of salt. He seems like one of their most accomplished players ...

And Suriname giving J. a tough match ...

I thought the game is still ongoing

At the senior level, Wood, Sargent, Zardes, Novakovic, and Altidore come immediately to mind as being ahead of him ... maybe throw Dwyer in there too ... he’s definitely no higher than 8th or 9th on the depth chart.

Our match next month will test us for sure. St. Kitts is a decently talented squad and I'm going to imagine their home venue won't have the greatest pitch for us to play.
I think that will be the game where we actually see how far we've come ...

Not sure if this was posted, but he was added on Sofifa:

He has an 85 potential!!!

That St Lucia win 3-0 away to Antigua was surprising. The US needed injury time to beat Antigua away in World Cup qualifying. (6 years ago mind you but this Antigua roster has some respectable players).
I agree that it was surprising. I still think the 7-0 game that we had against them was a bit of an aberration. When we played them at home, I seem to remember us going down 1-0, and not taking the lead until the 2nd half, on a penalty!

Is he in FIFA? Can’t find a rating on Sofifa and I’m curious what he’ll come in at ...

Serious?
Yup. Still 2-0 for Barbados in the 72nd minute ...

Problem is, as other posters have mentioned I don't think he can *ever* be eligible for us ... it's not just that he isn't eligible at the moment. I don't remember all of the details about his case, but I remember a lot of back and forth over whether he could ever become eligible in the future ... the consensus being that it wouldn't happen. I'd be happy to be wrong!

How good would it be to have Kofi Opare right now?
I was literally just thinking the exact same thing!!!

You are more worried about the St. Kitts game then the French Guiana game?
No, not at all ... I could see us winning 1-0 vs. St.Kitts, and tying FG.
Combine that with two 3-0 or 4-0 games vs. Dominica and USVI, and voila ... It's possible that we win by more vs. D or USVI though ...
Also, to be clear, I'm not saying that we can't win all 4 ...

The way forward though, is for this to be a country people want to play for and our job is to do that in the stands not advocating we cap tie people out of desperate insecurity.
But we're so good at desperate insecurity ... please don't take away one of the only things we're good at!

His run reminds me of what AJH did in his sub appearances ... so I guess we'll have to see if that translates into solid starts, which is obviously not a given.

This guy is going to alter some CMNT Best XI's (or at the very least game day 18's), and I barely knew about him a few weeks ago.
-
Well, I would get MUCH more excited if we had a good insurance keeper, and Tomori and another CB committed .... then we'd be, well, DANGEROUS!

They qualified by default because all the teams in their group withdrew. Then they withdrew from participating in the Cup finals. What a shit show. That was in 1950.
Guys, guys, stop hijacking this thread ... it's about Alphonso Davies. Let's get it back on track ... who else is this kid eligible for?

That was in the 2015 Gold Cup?
Junior missed a pretty good chance against ES in the away fixture of WCQ. Larin actually hit the crossbar with a header in that game too.
The sitter that Larin missed was indeed in the GC.

We're pretty thin in GK too. Of course, Borjan is a decent player, but then it's a League 1 reserve goaly and a USL 'keeper. After that it get's even more obscure. Basically we're just one broken finger away from having to play sub-par options in one of the most important positions on the field.
Well, I agreed with everything up until the part about being one of the most important positions on the field. I'm not saying it isn't, I'm just not sure ... I haven't looked at what the analytics say, but I've often wondered how I would rank the importance of a top keeper vs. a top CB, vs. a top mid-fielder vs. a top forward, etc.

I would definitely go full "A" squad in the first game and, sadly, I think it might be best to rest several players vs. Mexico. I know that this won't be a popular sentiment, but in the bigger scheme of things the first and third games are way more important ... and we'd realistically lose even with our A squad vs. Mexico.
