Perhaps CONCACAF's decision isn't based solely on Ottawa's situation, but simply on reasonable interpretation of the rules. In all honesty, CPL's existence does terminate the 'exceptional circumstance' which allowed Ottawa to compete in the USL in the first place. I don't see any way around that.

Maybe that's why the Fury made such a concerted effort to slight CPLs budget. An apparent gulf in salaries could be used as an argument for exceptional circumstances

    Why Vancouver over Europe?

I watch Vancouver, and I’d like to see more of him. I know many worry about players developing in MLS, but I’m selfish and want to watch our players play. Also, I think he’d make a perfect replacement for Davies, and he’d get a real chance to up his stock in Vancouver. I think it would be good for the player, the club, and the fans.

Not a clue. Anyone we talked to was being very cagey. Rob Friend seemed to have some names on his mind and I think James Merriman did too. I couldn't pick a player to save my life, which is why I don't coach. LOL

Everyone seemed surprised by the number of international attendees. I was hoping the coaches might have let more slip behind the scenes.

  4. Friend, Simpson, and Silberbauer all have experience at high levels of the sport. There's no guarantee that will translate into on field success, but for me they appear to have a leg up in that department. I don't think that's any less important than early membership numbers, as on field success is the surest way to sell tickets.

To me, this is just a trend. Pacific & York9 excluded, maybe, aren't we seeing development coaches across the league? I think that's a good thing, and likely speaks to the 1.0 era being about catching those kids who were falling (or not falling) through the cracks of our system.

Our assistant, James Merriman, has been very involved with development in BC.

Just check out this depth from M-CF! (Some players listed twice as they are versatile)

CF: Cavallini, Larin, David, Ricketts, AJH, Akindele, Hamilton

W: Hoilett, Davies, Tabla, Millar, Edwards, Akindele, Fisk, Telfer

    AM: Osorio, Arfield, Tabla, Chapman

M: Arfield, Piette, MAK, Tiebert, Osorio, Wotherspoon, Fraiser

I am sure that I missed some guys like Hutch for example. It is crazy how we have guys playing in decent leagues like Wotherspoon and he isn’t a shoo-in starter, not to mention not even getting subbed in against USVI.

    Sneaky Ben Fisk addition.

This.... Ive been watching every Cardiff game, because of Hoilett.... And my God does he doing a lot of tracking back. I've barely seen him get on the attack, so it's definitely something he could do.

Cardiff give up so much possession. He's had to do a ton of defending this season.

With Tabla in the mix, our best 11 and formation is now totally up in the air.  Its a versatile team with many moving parts.  I can't wait for the Gold Cup.  With this team, and our deep bench, anything is possible.

    -------------Cavallini----Larin

    -----------------------Tabla

    Davies------Atiba-----Arfield-----Hoilett

    ------DeJong----Henry----Jakovic

    ----------------------Borjan

I think Osorio has earned the start until Tabla can take it from him
