  1. I would so love to do this trip. Just days after my birthday.
  2. Will I be able to pick up a Voyageurs scarf anywhere before the game?
  3. Earlier this week, booked a hotel room in Toronto for that weekend to check out a couple Jays games. Looks like it will be one Canada game and one Jays game. Making the trip from Ottawa.
  4. Parents are moving, so in cleaning out some stuff in the basement, came across a massive stack of old magazines that I held on to for whatever reason. This issue was the November/December 2002 edition. It focused on an October 2002 match between Canada and Scotland in Edinburgh that a few Voyageurs travelled to. Thought I would post a couple pictures... Other features from the same issue include... - Canadian women qualifying for the 2003 World Cup. - CPSL year end awards. Ottawa Wizards won all the things. - a six or seven page article about Rick Titus. Titled "A rookie shakes up LaLa Land." I guess he had a couple big games against the Galaxy.
  5. Meh, looks more like a stomp than a trip. With FIFA on the case, I don't see anyway that Sinclair or Tancredi are eligible vs. France.
  6. Sigh. It's really all the refs fault? Awesomely awful post. Yay, conspiracy theories too!!!!
  7. http://www.mlssoccer.com/2012-mls-roster-rules Cliff notes on salaries/budget: - Players occupying roster spots 1-20 count against the club’s 2012 salary budget of $2,810,000. - The maximum budget charge for a single player is $350,000 - A Designated Player over the age of 23 counts as $350,000 against the club’s salary budget - U20 DP's count for $150,000 - DP's that are 21-23 count for $200,000 - Players occupying roster spots 21-30 do not count against the club’s salary budget, and are referred to collectively as the club’s Off-Budget Players (maximum of 10 per team).
  8. Another Ottawa native here. Hope to make Gracies for the match. Also moving that day. I'm sure by the time 8pm rolls around, I'll need a couple beers after fighting with Ikea furniture all day.
  9. Maybe I'm being overly negative, and maybe Terry Fox is great for CSL standards, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a really really bad place to watch a game.
  10. It can't be said enough how brutal brutal brutal the venue is. Steel benches in the stands that were awful to sit on 20 years ago haven't magically gotten better. The track makes it feel that you're miles from the action. The acoustics of the PA system are just lol. The scoreboard sits across 8 laps of track, across the field, and across another 8 laps of track. Could almost make out the score and time on the clock from the stands. The crowd seemed a decent size. Mainly Ottawa South United teams of various age groups. Seemed like a decent amount of people there to support Toronto Croatia. Unfortunately, the atmosphere of the crowd was non-existent. Only noise made was when there was a promise of free t-shirts being tossed into the crowd. There is talk of a supporters group on Facebook, but if they are organized at all, I didn't see any evidence of it tonight. I wasn't very dedicated fan tonight. Left at about 65' with CCFC down 0-2, and the clouds getting darker and the lightning getting closer.
  11. "very very credible" sources are the worst kind. Are you a journalist protecting sources? Name names dude.
  12. Meh. Home of the 80's Ottawa Intrepid! Honestly haven't been in ages, when Ottawa high schools used to host their soccer finals there. It's old and probably fairly beaten down.
  13. I'd love to see the elevated pitching mound at the stadium come into play during a soccer game. That link dead for anyone else?
