News from one of the new expansion USL Championship teams in Birmingham, AL.

Birmingham Legion FC announced today the signing of defender Mathieu Laurent.
Laurent played center-back as a team captain at UAB and earned a spot on the Conference USA Second-Team following his junior and senior seasons. He also made the All-Conference USA Freshman Team in 2014. Before coming to the States, Laurent was a member of the 2013 Canadian U17 National Team and played in the 2013 U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The Instagram page of Andrew Lebre has just changed, now appearing a reference to Nicosia, Cyprus. That is new, no other news I can find though.
    https://www.instagram.com/andrewlebre14/?hl=en
Edit: was checking Cypriot sites in my best Greek and I see on August 31 an international transfer request for him was put in from the Cypriot federation to the Portuguese, as I believe Lebre has a Portuguese passport.
re-edit: I have a suspicion he could be going to 2nd division PAEEK.

How the hell did he get a 5 year deal with FC Zürich?  Must be promising.

That's his (and Cordova's and Boakai's) agent being quoted there. Might not be as far off as you think.

Derek Cornelius has signed a 3.5 year contract with Serbian Super League team FK Javor Ivanjica. They are currently in 6th place in the Serbian table. He has been playing centre back recently with Neumunster. Serbian league is not a bad place at all for a 19 year old especially if he can get playing time. Very good record of developing players and a league where even the flawed players who won't rise higher have a good technique and tactical awareness.

His club only finished in 12th place, but he has attracted interest from various 1st tier clubs in B&H.

Not a bad move.  I think with regular football he'll find his form again.  NASL is getting closer to MLS than MLS is to Liga MX it seems.  Checking out some of the rosters there are some impressive players on every side.

Here is a video of Cantave in action for Getafe U19 last season against Atletico Madrid.  Watch the first 30 seconds, he scores a great goal... looks to be pretty technically skilled but this video doesn't show much other than that.
CD Guadalajara is a great move for him.  At 19 it's time to start playing against men and he has every opportunity to see first team minutes at a good level (good enough for Piette to get called).  I remember Riki from when JDG was at Deportivo.. pretty good player.

Yallop is MLS quality.  He worked miracles with SJ just 3 years ago winning the SS with an average team and coach of the year, I think much of the criticism has been harsh... his teams haven't done great recently but he also hasn't exactly had quality to work with either.  His track record speaks for itself and it is better than most coaches in the league.
He's a "grinder" coach.  One I think MLS teams that don't have the money to compete and sign big players can use.
USL is a drop down, sure but as a coach you take the job and $ you can get.  You don't just sit around waiting for someone to be sacked.

He would be at least a sub (2nd string) on every MLS team and a starter on some. Comparing 2nd and 3rd division Germany to USL and NASL is a joke. Send any of our USL guys to Germany and see if they could even be a reserve on a D3 team. They would have a hard time even being a starter in the Regionnalligas.

I have not watched Yallop's teams too much, but it seems harsh to say that he is not MLS caliber when he has won the MLS Cup x2, coach of the year x2, and supporter's shield.
Agree that it is a steep step. However, considering his recent record he feel this is the time to  step back and reconsider his methods/playing style.

This Andreas Vaika kid at Norkopping (I probably butchered that) is interesting. He is currently repping Estonia at youth level but it also sounds like he's never gotten a call from Canada.

Tyler Blackwood is a team mate of Petrasso's.  Seems like a joke to me with Blackwood pretending to be a fan... if there was any truth to it surely there would be a better means of communication between teammates than a comment on a public photo.
