  1. I live in Ontario and have Bell Expressvu. Will I be able to catch the game live?
  2. Any word on televising the game against Honduras?
  3. Don't know if there is already a thread on yesterday's press conference (if so, I do apologize). "For a brief moment during Wednesday's conference call with Canadian men's national team coach Dale Mitchell, I thought Toronto FC head coach John Carver had commandeered the telephone on the other end." Rest of the story can be found here: http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/blogs/2008/08/13/johnston_blog/
  4. In my excitement, I forgot to mention that the roster has been named. The surprises are the inclusion of Hume, Imhof and McKenna. De Jong, Occean and Jazic missed out. Goalkeepers: Greg Sutton, Hamilton, Toronto FC (MLS); Pat Onstad, Vancouver, Houston Dynamo (MLS). Defenders: Mike Klukowski, Oshawa, Ont., Club Brugge KV (Belgium); Kevin McKenna, Calgary, FC Koeln (Germany); Jim Brennan, Toronto, Toronto FC (MLS); Richard Hastings, Vancouver, Inverness Caledonian Thistle (Scotland). Defender-Midfielders: Daniel Imhof, Smithers, B.C., VfL Bochum (Germany); Adrian Serioux, Toronto, FC Dallas (MLS), Paul Stalteri (capt.), Brampton, Ont., Tottenham (England). Midfielders: Julian de Guzman, Toronto, Deportivo La Coruna (Spain); Issey Nakajima-Farran, Calgary, FC Nordsjlland (Denmark); Atiba Hutchinson, Brampton, Ont., FC Copenhagen (Denmark); Patrice Bernier, Brossard, Que., FC Nordsjlland (Denmark). Midfielder-Forwards: Tomasz Radzinski, Toronto, Skoda Xanthi (Greece); Dwayne De Rosario, Toronto, Houston Dynamo (MLS). Forwards: Ali Gerba, Montreal, Milton Keynes Dons (England); Rob Friend, Kelowna, B.C., Borussia Moenchengladbach (Germany); Iain Hume, Brampton, Ont., Barnsley FC (England). http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080813.wspt-wccanada13/GSStory/GlobeSportsSoccer/home
  5. When was the last time the MNT made the first page of the online edition. It was a pleasant surprise. http://www.globesports.com/
  6. I think he definitely warrants a place on the Canadian squad. It poses DM with a tough but good situation in figuring out who to play in the midfield. Tam wants to play for us and has told me that he feels that this is a really good team. Tim Cahill who plays for Everton and Australia represented Samoa in his teens and then eventually got approval to play for Australia. If he was given the opportunity, why the delay in straightening out the Tam situation?
  7. What are the subscription fees for GolTV and FSWC?
  8. I am from Ottawa originally and I just can't see the city supporting the franchise over a long period of time. It would be a huge mistake to grant a franchise to Ottawa. How can anyone forget the demise of the Rough Riders, Renegades and Lynx? Ottawa is a hocky town. Vancouver is a deserving city.
  9. Let's not forget that Hume broke the Canadian goose egg against the Yanks last year. I think they held us scoreless for at least 3 years or something. From what I hear, Iain gets on well with the lads on the MNT. Onwards Iain.
  10. Was de Jong even used on Sunday's match? According to the CSA website scorecard, he did not play.
  11. Wouldn't it be a good idea for players like Julian De Guzman and David Edgar to speak to the Holliet brothers and present the argument for representing Canada? I think such a conversation would go much further than the CSA speaking to these boys.
  12. What happened to Marcel de Jong? I thought he was highly rated by DM. Is he still in the frame?
  13. According to Wikipedia, he has been capped by the USA. Furthermore, I don't see any connection to Canada. Somebody please enlighten me.
  14. I too am not worried about the result. I noticed that Tam played again, which leads me to believe that the CSA is confident that he will be able to settle the passport issue with FIFA. Does anyone have an update on Tam's situation?
