  1. Would it be unreasonable to assume this family already has an extensive list of corporate clients and high net worth individuals who they can count on with confidence for taking these seats? I wouldn't be surprised if they do.
  2. Aspiration and reality? Can someone educate him on what these terms mean. Aspiration is to achieve something down the road. Reality is self explanatory. One does not replace the other. A great example is this: I aspire to get my CPA designation but the reality is I currently do not have it. However, I should be able to obtain it come May of 2020 when I fulfill the requirements.

Looks better than the initial bird's eye view map.

The league is forcing the derby on you? Use whatever verbiage you want. They’re just trying to sell the match.
  5. Which Cisse is this? Isn't there like twenty soccer players from both France and Senegal named Cisse.
  6. And this is going to be a permanent facility?
  7. For BBTB’s argument to hold weight, he has to provide some evidence both the Caps and Impact were willing to put affiliates into the CPL like TFC was but I don’t recall even rumours of that being considered. Also, for that to be comparable to the original CSL with regards to not letting in Croatia and Italia, it would mean MLS having current affiliates in the USL that are drawing well, which also isn’t the case. TFC 2 don’t draw well and both WC 2 and Impact 2 have been discontinued. How much better would they have lasted in the CPL? They were already branded as reserve teams. Obviously, the only thing bringing those types of operations into the fold would do is drag the image of the CPL down. I doubt the current clubs in the mix would be doing as well with regards to membership numbers. I don’t get why he keeps harping on about it. It’s not happening, the league isn’t going in the direction he wanted it to. He was wrong about all his speculation to the build up of this whole thing. Get the fuck over it.

Bro, I just wanted to make you smile and laugh. Had I known it would have derailed this thread and ruined your day in particular, I would have refrained. Perhaps one day I will explain my reasoning for why I said what I said but....not today.

I am disappointed UT. I thought you would be better than this. I never meant fascism like it was a bad thing. Little Jack Horner? I'm sorry, I'm not sure what the reference is or what it's implying. You probably know Google's definition of fascism but not the true underlying tenets of it. I am no Trump supporter but I'm not surprised you would accuse me of being one. That's what happens when one gives an honest fair assessment of his actions, he gets labelled a Trump supporter/apologist (usually from an irrational leftist) when all that person is doing is stating facts and speaking truth.

It's quite ironic then how the club you're a paid voting member of is inherently fascist in nature.
  11. Was Edmonton owned by the people who own The Brick furniture store? And was Calgary sponsored by Leon’s? Was this the dienette set derby or something? Da fuck....

I am wondering the same thing. I am boisterous and opinionated but passing off statements/opinions as facts...that’s BBTB’s specialty...not mine. But, I am still only a club captain.....patiently awaiting my national team call up.

I haven't measured the crowd noise decibel levels of all the stadiums if that's what you are getting at. It sounded the loudest from what I recall but, I don't know, it's been a while, I could be mistaken here. However, the most important thing is for you not to get overly concerned over minor, insignificant details like this one. Seems like that's one of your vices you need to work on.

I don’t like MLS, you can even say I dislike the league. It’s not my cup of tea. However, I have never said I hate it or want it to fail.

I do nothing but speak truth and if that sounds like I’m shitting on MLS, that’s just where the chips fall. I am no MLS hater.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU74A8RCYPs Was just watching a video of FC Midtjylland and was surprised that venue only holds 11,800 people. The noise level trumps anything I have seen in MLS minus a packed Saputo maybe. Scale this baby anywhere from 12,000 to 16,000 seats and you will have a blue print for the first permanent SSS built for a Canadian CPL club. Looks expandable to if need be afterwards.
  18. I totally agree with the EPL thing, no arguments there. When it comes to the bolded, my take on MLS is the young guys (even some veterans) don't take risks, chances...they're way too scared if they hold onto the ball for more than 4 seconds. Obviously this doesn't apply to DPs and seasoned foreigners. I think it's a league wide thing where mistakes are punished by restricting their game time. Davies was an exception where his explosive athleticism and hype gave him a creative license to fail, and he did numerous times with runs that went no where and runs where the opposition stopped him dead in his track. However, every other young Canadian/American doesn't have the luxury to do that. This is where the CPL must be different. Creativity, adventure and confidence needs to be pushed and emphasized throughout the league which is no easy task, but if the league can push that culture successfully to the member clubs, the CPL will be producing a lot more quality, even world class players than MLS which will result in us leaving the USMNT in the dust.
  19. Culture is heavily rooted in it as historically, contact sports were not prevalent. Soccer is just gaining traction. The most popular sports in those countries have traditionally been things like Cricket, badminton, squash and table tennis for example. Those countries don't have the historical upbringing of kids that know how to deal with an athlete on a physical level. They don't have high level experience in knowing the vast amount of effort, sheer will and determination it takes in outmuscling a grown man in his athletic prime. No outlier can pop out until that environment is developed in those countries.
  20. I wonder who has me on ignore... Currently in strict footballing terms, India is in the same boat as a late 1980s/early 1990s Japan, when the sport was aggressively being pushed onto the mainstream public by mangas, animes and the J league was formed by wealthy financial backers. I was surprised during the U17 World Cup how the Indian kids were just as athletic as the Ghanan and American kids. The only issue was fundamentals which they will slowly learn. It's just taking a little longer than usual because contact sports are not prevalent in south, east, and southeast Asian countries. Once they get over this hump, it will be interesting to see what the future holds.
  21. Fair point. I will clarify and say it doesn't necessarily have to be the absolute best foreigners available. I would tune in if they fielded a team full of foreigners on the level of say Sevilla or FC Porto because that would be dam entertaining to see but at the current level? No, despite the fact they have been "good" the last few seasons. Whenever I do tune in I still see the same soulless, going through the motions, suburban college boy soccer. That is an MLS issue that won't be changing anytime soon.
  22. People are looking at this in the wrong context. It’s not different in TFC’s case compared to the other Big North American sports because it’s soccer. It’s different in TFC’s case because MLS is a low budget feeder league that is still far down the totem pole when it comes to international relevance. If TFC competed against the best and had a budget on the level of Man City, nobody....not a single voyageur here, me included, would care who they would hypothetically field in their starting eleven. Why? Because we’re seeing the best play. So, the reason I don’t watch TFC is the result of me asking myself one simple question, “if I want to watch a bunch of foreigners play, why not watch the best?” Until TFC/MLS can answer that question, which is either by fielding a majority Canadian (preferably young) line up or becoming one of the best clubs/leagues in the world, there is no purpose for me or anyone this side of the border to watch them play. Now, I know some people like 1996 are going to come and say “Well, it’s supporting local footy, 1983, Blizzard, etc.” To which I will reply by saying you now have a better option. An option that serves a purpose.
  23. It’s easy when there is no competition involved. I don’t think CPL across the league will reach MLS attendance because of the aforementioned market sizes involved but like you mentioned, I don’t think that matters. I think the end goal is eventually transitioning to an open market system where clubs like Winnipeg/Hamilton are drawing 20,000/30,000 and competing against clubs from Sherbrooke that are comfortable only drawing 8,000/10,000 fans.
