I tried to respond above but the quoting seems gorked on that post.
You ask above why we should work with them at all.
They run soccer in this country, and we have already been working with them for years.
They use our trophy for the national championship.  We participate in the presentation of that trophy (though that needs to be improved) Promote our viewing parties through their social network.  Reserve sections for us in stadiums at home and away Hold, significant chunks of stadium inventory unsold until close to the game based solely on trust. Arrange ticket pricing at signficant discounts Arrange space at events like games, soccer shows ect. Link directly to us from their website Feature players using our scarf
    Talking about arranging
Pre game events (as in days before) with alumni and current players Coordinating Voyageurs awards for in stadium presentations Improving all of the things in the list above.
We don't do all of these things in spite of the CSA, we do them because of them.  They are good people to work with, helpful and I don't know how many times I have to repeat this before people believe me, but they want us to succeed.   Of course our success means more ticket sales ect... but it is more than that.   It isn't cynical marketing or a bottom line on a spreadsheet.

We should never stop being critical, but we do need to stop being destructively cynical.

There is a generation of golden age people who talk like the NASL era was the height of soccer here.   Not a chance.  These kids coming up are light years ahead of kids decades ago.  No comparison.

Game commentary is not news. People do not want to go through pages of game commentary to get news. If a thread is clearly labelled game commentary then I think it is fine to post those updates and those interested can read them on that thread.

Live updates for a match should be in a match thread imo. Though I notice that there are never match threads on here for anything but national team games..

It is interesting.  The skill level I see among the young elite players - even in a small province like PEI - is off the charts compared to what I saw 10-15 years ago.  Kids are coming up through the ranks with ridiculous skills, and a desire to play attacking footy where they drive at (and past) defenders.  I may be naive and just not as aware of the phenoms who went through the system in years past, but I think our growing infrastructure, huge registration numbers and tendency to stream top players into more elite training and developmental pathways is going to pay off in the next decade or so (and from then on).  I know other countries have also continued to grow their programs but I can't help but think that we may have closed the gap quite a bit.  And with CPL coming online and offering hopefully another strong domestic pathway for talented young players, I think we will only continue to get better.

If folks are looking for something to do the night before, feel free to swing by my bar!
    https://www.facebook.com/events/800361787010706/
We're at 431 Barton Street East, and have 14 taps of (mostly) Ontario craft beer. If you're wearing CPL gear, you can get $5 pints of Helles Lager from Wellington.
Not a craft beer fan? We have some classic cocktails & our Macrobrew of the Month as well!
(It seems like the Barton Street Battalion may be doing an event this night as well; I've cleared it with them & Jamie before posting this)

    I didn't see this thread.
I will arrange sections for people at these games.
A proper section at a Mexico game is really important, it needs to be coordinated with security.

DO NOT go buying tickets until I have talked to Canada Soccer.
