So far, so good........can't wait until kick-off

We hear your pain. You need to blast the Ottawa Fury organization and tell them to get into CPL, asap (which is what the majority of Fury fans wanted in the first place). They need to eat a big slice of humble pie and meet whatever conditions the CPL puts before them.

It will take CPL a few years to compete with MLS. Then, I expect the same ruling to apply.

The Welsh league is semi-pro at best. Even lower division English leagues are far better. USL will basically be on-par with CPL.

It doesn't really matter about sides. The Fury gambled and lost. They aren't sanctioned to play USL. They have no league. The Ottawa Fury take a back seat to Canada and CPL. If I was an Ottawa fan, I would be pissed at the Ottawa Fury.

Yes, they made decisions, really BAD decisions. And now they are suffering the consequences. They needlessly burned bridges in CPL. Acted like complete amateurs. The Ottawa Fury have nobody to blame but themselves.

If they are going to come in kicking & screaming, I agree, let them fold. CPL are riding a positive tidal wave at the moment. We don't need their poison. Start fresh with CPL ownership that want to embrace OUR league.

The Fury don't have a league to play. They very quickly will have no players. They won't be selling any tickets. They are screwed.

Agreed. The Fury mean nothing. It's Ottawa we need. The Fury have completely screwed themselves and their fans. Are they going to go to war with FIFA to play in USL ??? I have little sympathy for them. If CPL is that painful for them, fold the team and let another owner start fresh in CPL. There will be lots of prospective owners with deep pockets that would be willing to make this work in Ottawa.

Fernando Aguir was just a young Blizzard kid as well. He went on to play for Benfica. North York had 15 yr old Radzinski and the Blizzard had 15 yr old Peschisolido. It was a pleasure watching those kids turn into world class footballers. Same as Bunbury. It was long list of fantastic development, in short order for the CSL. I'm expecting the player pool in CPL to grow in quality tremendously over the next decade and beyond. And with it, I expect Canada to slowly climb the FIFA rankings as we develop proper quality and depth. I can't wait for CPL to kick-off ! I am literally giddy with excitement !

Blizzard in CSL were pure class. I loved watching 15 year old Pesch run roughshod over the Fury.
  15. And prior to this, Mehrdad Mousadi (spelling) created Stadium North, on the CSA site. Mehrdad was a great guy. He too was from Iran. Used to make (on his own) CSL newspapers and sell them at the CSL games in Ottawa. The CSA saw him at an Intrepid match and hired him for CSA Communications. He eventually created Stadium North, which had a forum. This would be around 95. The Stadium North forum is where the V's seed was planted. I think that is where we voted on the name, Voyageurs. Stadium North was a great idea, very well intentioned and way ahead of it's time, but the CSA didn't like the criticism they were taking on their site, so the plug was pulled. From there, we quickly created our own site and the V's were born. He left the CSA for World Soccer (?), in London in mid to late 90's. Mehrdad was a great guy. Very passionate about Canadian soccer and way ahead of his time. He should be in the soccer Hall of Fame. His work left a real imprint on Canadian soccer. I remember us having lunch one time after a Canada match in Edmonton (early/mid 90's) and Mehrdad telling me why soccer had such an impact in his life. He was a prison guard during the Iran/Iraq war. He used to assist in organizing soccer games with the prisoners. He had some very colourful stories around this. Some not so pleasant. That was the last time I saw him. And yes, it was Reza K, in Edmonton that initially was running the show for the V's. Reza was Iranian and lived in Edmonton. He got married and suddenly had greater priorities. Another great guy who I haven't seen or heard from in many years. A couple of great individuals who really contributed to the growth of this game in Canada.
