The CSA also originally thought that FCE would still be in this tournament, so plans had to justifiably change.

Canadians in the NBA have benefited from the extremely high quality of the American University system's basketball programs. They have the best already there just waiting to be plucked by the NBA. I'm not putting down Basketball Canada but let's be realistic, the NCAA is the reason!
Their soccer programs are competent but not nearly of the same standard. Good players do come out of the system, some of them very good but it has its limitations which is something MLS has recognized and so is pushing the academies!
The last time we made the Hex was 1998 and we came in last. Our best hex was four years earlier for USA 94. A home win over Mexico would have advanced us directly the finals. We lost 2-1 and went on to face Australia. We lost in PK's. They went on to lose 1 nil to Argentina over two legs on a flukey goal.
That was our best ever team due in part to the then, recently defunct Canadian Soccer League that gave our best players a stepping stone to Europe and trained a very solid group of domestically based Canadians that made that team as good as it was and yes, it was better than the 86 squad but so was the 82 squad (thanks to the NASL).
In any case, we need the CPL to do for us what the CSL (the real one, not the charade that goes by that name now) did for us then!

Terrific but without the NCAA to take them to the next level, where would they go? Basketball Canada would have to fill the gap! They don't have to do that right now because of the US college system.
That's what the CPL will do for Canadian soccer, as the original CSL did in the late 80's and early 90's when Pesch, Bunbury, Devos, Hooper, Fenwick and others used the league as the necessary stepping stone to the higher levels of the sport.
Right now it's our missing link. In 2019, it's existence will begin.

I can't believe some people here are trying to downplay DUIs or the police equipment that registered his blood alcohol level. He could have killed someone. This is a gigantic fuck up.

My wife's sister was killed by a drunk driver.  The idea of a "crime of morality" is a matter of perspective.

Please don't minimize the seriousness of DUI. Too many people have unjustly lost their life or got permanently injured because of it.
If found guilty Cyle will get no sympathy from me. He should've know better.

He wont have any travel issues.  But this will hurt a possible transfer due to the bad optics.  Clubs dont want to be associated with this.
Now, if I may speculate, based on what we know I see several possible red flags.
Firstly a given standard drink equals roughly 20 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.  He blew 180 mg, so thats at least 9 drinks in his body at the time he blew, but given that the body eliminates alcohol as soon as its ingested, to be steady at 180 for the time it takes to provide the 2 breath tests tells me that night he likely consumed 12-15 drinks in one sitting, if we are being kind and assuming he only drank at the bar for a few hours (he told the police he had just left a bar) and had not been drinking all day.
Also, social drinkers almost never get their blood alcohol content this high.  Most first timers and young people I see with an out of the blue impaired charge blow 110-120 ish.  180 is a red flag.  Its a sign of an experienced drinker.  Many people cannot walk at 180, to get into a car and drive at 180 mgs and believe you can drive, you'd have to have built up a healthy tolerance for alcohol.  Not good.
He is only 22.  21 is the legal drinking age in Florida ffs.  And he's already showing signs of having alcohol issues?
Lastly, he has a game on Saturday, and he is getting absolutely shitfaced on the Wednesday prior?  What in the hell is going on Cyle?

I'm definitely into paying more for Canadian products & better quality but I'm at a point in my life where I'm less price sensitive than I was when I was younger.  That being said, you have kept prices pretty low so I feel like even young poor me would have been ok with a $5 increase

I often dish out a little extra in order to get a quality product that benefits local suppliers first. I do this all the time for produce, meat, and other groceries. With clothing, there often aren't any reasonably priced alternatives, so a $5 or even $10 difference is very reasonable. I say do it! Also, share the name of the manufacturer so we can redirect other Canadian teams/groups/etc to make a similar switch. In the long run, this will drive the price lower and improve the Canadian economy.

I'm with Rob on this...I'm sure we can all afford a few extra bucks.  I mean we aren't Wal-Mart making tens of thousands of shirts.

I have no issue with paying a few dollars more. In fact I think I've said in the past that prices for tickets/merch should be priced so that no one ends up having to cover a loss, and this would likely also mean paying more.
