How many hours (in and out) does the transition take and how many individuals are required to undertake this task? In a rental situation i.e. Mac, the club would be on the hook for all labour plus the time the field would be unavailable for other purposes. Pre football season, you might be allowed to leave the pitch in place but once the fall arrives, the transition labour costs and payment for the time the field is unavailable could be considerable.
  2. So what you are saying is that if you don't finish first, you are a failure! OK, good to know!

Ya and Tim Hortons is the marquis venue. Latest article on the stadium problems. http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/hamilton/stadium-not-finished-1.4551357
  4. Sadly, that's life isn't it! That's why I'm looking for a job.

We already know how great the atmosphere in Lamport with 7-8k for a game. That's what the Wolfpack draw! About 25 years ago I was in there for a match hosted by the local NSL Greek team "Toronto Panhellenic" vs a touring "Olympiakos" and the place was packed. The buzz was wonderful. It can be a great venue and with some upgrades, it would be the perfect CPL Toronto home. As for other cities, it all depends on what's out there. We pretty much know that Hamilton will use Tim Horton's Field. Winnipeg will be in Investor's Group Field. Both are 20k PLUS facilities. It may feel like Ottawa but hey, that's life. If Ottawa joins the league, we know where they'll play. It's not like there are many options. I suppose Hamilton could play at Mac but it's a little bit too small for what the league hopes to achieve. For TV, they'll have to bias seating into the opposing stand lower level even if it means the near stand is empty. That's not great for in stadium atmosphere as such but it will look reasonable on TV. If Edmonton is in, we know they'll play at Clarke, hopefully an improved Clarke. Commonwealth is a non-starter. We all know that. Sometimes reality gets in the way.

Welllllll, let's see ..... we can kill the rumour of Arsene Wenger coaching CPL Toronto ...... how's that?

I'm good with that. I do wish Bradley had taken a 90th minute second yellow last week though. Sit Tuesday night and have a clean slate for Tigres!

Reasonable points but I'd counter with the point that many people have been watching CFL all their lives. For man, it has been part of their fabric for decades even without a home team to call their own. While they would have to handle the market with care and ensure they don't over price their tickets, I don't believe a 20k average is out of the question. CPL is very different obviously. It's brand new and it's understandable that people might be more skeptical about it although hopefully they'll show up anyway!

It's a "Phase One/First Benchmark/Measuring Stick" type of thing. If they don't reach their targets and feel somewhat confident that the public will support the club, they'll refund everybody's money. Considering how much they've lost on FC Edmonton through the years, I don't blame them for this at all. All they are asking for is for a show of strength from the supporters. "Prove to us you really will support us!"

Exactly. As much as anything, they are after the hardcore fans to prove they are still there and still willing to support. Once that is determined, they try to take it the next level assuming they've been able to get to the 1k.
  15. Both those scenarios make perfect sense to me.
  16. We don't know if he was offered something though. In regards to Herdman, if he did in fact use the England job as a bargaining tool and said it's the CMNT job for me or I'm taking the England job, I'd have said good luck in England! We don't know that happened of course. I hope it didn't. If the offer came from above without prompting because they felt they needed to ditch OZ for some unknown back room reason and needed a quick replacement ..... without prompting from John, that's a different story and is also very possible.

Even with their under-soil heating! How bad would it have been, for example, in Mtl which has none of that high tech stuff!
  18. Good job! Hopefully you weren't banned from the store or mall!
  19. Very possible. Either that or sour grapes that he's twice been passed over! In any case, we all know MDS was the man!
  20. OK point taken but as is the unwritten rule in any sport, the head coach gets to choose who his assistants are. Herdman gets to make those choices. You can't be inflicting an assistant on a head coach because the desk jockeys say so.
  21. One game! My understanding was that he and Floro weren't close, that he was placed in that role by the CSA. You're also ignoring the possibility that Findlay may have left of his own accord!
  22. Does he have any badges? I do kind of like the guy I must admit but IMO he struggled in Montreal but an assistant job might be what he needs.
  23. Why do you believe Findlay is worth keeping? He's survived in the CSA framework since 2008. Might he not be as much, or more, of a yes man than anybody else?
  24. I felt I got my monies worth as I would switch from game to game on the PC while doing other work. Often I'd have Whitecaps on TSN while the PC was showing me yanks games. I knew about the restrictions of course. Sometimes I'd find out games were on TSN only after seeing the streams being unavailable! Where I felt I was losing my value was due to the number of games being played simultaneously. There used to be more Sunday night games from the west coast meaning I could watch those late starts until very late in the evening. Those seem to have beene cut back. I'm curious what they'll have for us this year. Who will run it? TSN I presume.
