  1. Actually it probably has more to do with a national team doing well for almost a generation now...
  2. It would be Dunlop that dresses like a clown.

  4. Crepeau's knee was hyper-extended. It could have been worse.
  5. Crepeau out for the rest of the tournament, according to CBC, though the injury apparently isn't as bad as it looked: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/story/2011/06/20/sp-u17-canada-crepeau.html

  8. Just like to add that while watching the match it was refreshing to see the women play hard without resorting to theatrics and complaining to the ref that you see endlessly in the men's game. Other than that fall by Domingues after she crashed into our keeper, I don't recall any form of play acting. If even when they truly fell down, they got right back up!! :-)
  9. I hope they do play it outside of Greater Athens. The game will only draw flies at Karaiskaki. :-(
  10. Tam Nsaliwa has signed a three year deal with Real Betis. According to the article below, Nsaliwa had offers from English teams but preferred "to make his dreams come true" of playing in Spain. http://www.contra.gr/Soccer/Spain/Segunda/Betis/284332.html (Greek)
  11. This is what I have always understood it as. Is Toronto even eligible to play in this tournament? They can't qualify for the CCL via MLS, and I have never read anywhere that they can qualify for this tournament. Besides, Toronto can't play in both the CCL and the SuperLiga. And we don't know if Toronto will qualify for the 2011 CCL until next June. And the same will be true with Vancouver and Montreal.
  12. From the Soccer By Ives Blog: "Gianluca Zavarise - Received his first cap for Canada in a 1-1 start against Venezuela on May 29. Zavarise recently moved from VFL Bochum (Bundesliga 2) to Egaleo F.C. of the Greek second division. Marcel de Jong - After four season with Roda JC of the Dutch Eredivisie, de Jong moved to German side FC Augsburg (Bundesliga II) late last month." http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/06/canada-corner-hoilett-hints-tfc-announce-motagua-date-and-more.html#more If true about Zavarise, he will play in the 3rd Division as Egaleo have been relegated.
