    Liam Millar

i sat on this for a week, after turning down approaches from Porto and a few premier league clubs after a chat with Klopp Liam decided to sign a new long term contract and head out on Loan to Kilmarnock..,Really happy and excited for the opportunity for Liam...Here's to him going and smashing up the SPL!!! Buzzing!!! Sent from a hotel in Kilmanock!!!!

So a bit of an update. This experience has been exactly what Liam needed. Scotland has been a blast, he was thrown right in but hit the ground running. He's now had two really good first team substitute appearances and is really growing as a player. It's the small things you don't get from youth football. The day to day competition and struggle of working towards trying to get that starting spot... being around pros who can help you with the details.. training for an opponent.. Liam is hungry and happy!! Liam has come into a very good settled team but the manager Steve Clarke seems to have faith in him as he has thrown him into both games where he has come on and made a real impact and has been unlucky to not get his first goal. Big game on Saturday vs his former coach Stevie G and Rangers on Saturday!!! It won't be easy but nothing worth doing is and nothing good comes out of being comfortable...Very happy with his loan move

Liam did really well today, he's been a really game changer and taken on what the manager Steve Clarke has to say. Very very unlucky not to be through on goal because of a cynical foul. Came on full of running and gave Rangers something to think about. Unlucky not to start but expected it against Rangers at Ibrox tbh.. Steve Clarke has a plan... He was not phased playing in front of a hostile crowd of 49000 fans at Ibrox. Not a lot of our senior men's national team players play in front of that many and thought at 19 showed a lot of maturity. This loan(his first) has been so good for him, really seen him grow into a man. His tail is up and he is full of confidence and keen to get back to the national team... he knows he has Hoilett in front of him but is happy for the chase... Looking forward to the game on the 24th

Canada vs French Guiana Match Thread

My favourite memory from tonight’s match was while watching it with my 5 year old son and he turned to me and said “I want to be a Canada player!” We sang Oh Canada together. Celebrated the goals together. And dreamed of him suiting up for Canada together in the future. This is why playing matches and having them televised is important. *ironically all done while wearing the Northern Ireland top my wife put him in earlier today to wind me up. Haha so proud.

Regarding Osorio, let's not start with the attitude problem BS on here again. He's been a consistent starter for JH every game, for a year now, JH likes him and plays him bc Oso is a professional in every sense. Osorio plays hard every single time and wants to be a difference maker. Osorio is just extremely hard on himself because he wants to do well so badly. That's it. Read nothing more into his reaction to the sub. It happens in Toronto from time to time. No big deal.

I thought he was an absolute revelation today. Hardly put a foot in wrong, and he had a lot to deal with on his side, often in tight quarters. He was quite good going forward as well. Very impressive overall.

Pretty much exactly what has been happening. He’s training well is close to a start and has featured in 4 out of the 4 games he has been on the bench for. But it’s a tough route. Exactly what he needs. to fight and push and try to fight his way into the starting line up. That’s his goal for this loan. . He had a meeting with Steve Clarke yesterday and was told he’s doing well he’s very close to a start but be patient and keep working. Goto love a manager that lets u know where u stand... 3 out of the 4 youngsters (phonzie liam and ballou are getting the same treatment atm David is doing really well) but it’s part of the process to becoming a top top player.. happy with his journey so far!!

    CPL TV Contract

I won't pretend I understand all the nuance, or that I have any idea how I am going to actually watch a CPL game in 2 months. But a global media company just spent $200M on our fucking league. That is massive financial stability for the league, and the kind of investment that guarantees mediaPRO will do their best to get eyeballs watching our league. Some may be frustrated about the lack of detail re actual broadcasts but man, this is massive. Like game changing. Literally. Pretty chuffed.

No thanks. MLS rules are a large part of the reason I find the league impossible to support. Just raise the cap appropriately. If they can afford Haber, Issey and DeJong, you should be able to afford MLS Canadians. Keep the CPL as transparent and club based as possible.

I just sent this to the CSA: “Dear CSA, First, I am a lifelong supporter of Canadian soccer. I am deeply grateful to the CSA for your role in the growth of the Voyageurs Cup, and the creation of the CPL. But the reason I am writing to you now is that I am perplexed by your amateurish and senseless decision to award the first ever Canadian spot in the Concacaf League to one of FC Edmonton, Forge FC, ot Valour FC when there are seven Premier League clubs. None of them deserves this silly and frankly outrageous level of arbitrary and capricious favouritism. If you were pressed into making a quick decision, as I suspect was the case, then why didn’t you simply draw one of the seven CPL clubs at random? Everyone would’ve accepted that process as transparent and fair, but instead you have alienated and outraged the fans of the four other CPL clubs, myself included. Yes, the three privileged clubs from whom you will select the 2019 Canadian representative in the Concacaf League were the first to sign onto the new CPL project, but the four other clubs are founding members also. Your decision to grant those three clubs special seeding in the Voyageurs Cup seems unfair on its face, but isn’t it reward enough for their being ‘first’ among the first seven clubs? I urge you to reverse this nonsensical and irrational decision immediately. I urge you to conduct a transparent draw from among all seven CPL clubs. Fairness, rule of law, and transparency are hallmarks of our Canadian way, and this action that you have taken lacks in all three.” I urge all Voyageurs to express their displeasure to the CSA directly, as soon as possible.

Just to try and reign things in a little, and make it clear. All of this frustration and criticism is in the context of soccer. What I mean is, should Fury end up in the USL final in Ottawa this year, I'll be buying tickets and driving my ass to Ottawa along with I suspect many others on this board leveling criticism at them ... 'cause... soccer. In case you think this isn't true, I was in one of the many carloads of Toronto soccer fans that drove to Montreal to see the Impact in the CCL final in 2015.... again... 'cause... soccer. This should be the kind of spirit that embodies this board.... not these stupid arguments.

Could be. My source was being cagey and I got no details beyond the $$ amount which I understood was "the deal" for the CanPL. I'm just sitting here in Victoria stunned by the size, scope, and partner of the deal, after already being floored by the signing of Marcel de Jong. If this doesn't shut up the doubters, they are just trolls.

Dude, go away. Seriously leave this section of the forum. You are getting more crotchety every day we get closer to kick off and spaming every thread with needless negative conjecture. I'm not even sure if you sleep because you can seemingly shit on the CPL around the clock. Somebody has a positive comment? You are there instantly to piss in their corn flakes, 24/7. This league is happening, it's going to be whatever it is and we will embrace it because its local Canadian focused football. Just go away. Thank you.

As has been mentioned, as much as we want to criticize some of the blurry bits around today's major announcements, and the absence of some anticipated details regarding others, in the end it all boils down to one simple fact. The world's largest automotive manufacturer has made a corporate decision to attach their brand to the CPL. Fu'k me.

This is pretty cool: It is incredible that our NT has players who train or have trained often with the like of Ronaldo, Messi, Salah, etc. Maybe none of them will ever play for the first team, but regardless, this experience will stay with them forever.

Just getting back into town after a fantastic weekend in Vancouver. Going to the game live, and meeting many Voyageurs from BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan (in addition to reacquainting with others) really renewed my desire to support the national team in the stands. It's so great to see the great times everyone has with each other in person, in contrast to this site where it feels like negativity rules the world.

Similar experience with my six and nine-year-olds today in the stadium. To brush by Davies and Borjan, to watch a lot of fun and creative soccer on display, to celebrate NUMEROUS goals in their home city was just amazing. And then, at the very end in another moment of brilliance from Zach, he calls Atiba, the last man left on the pitch, to come and address the fans. He hopped the rail, and sat down with us, leading cheers with the megaphone, giving hi-fives to the kids, thanking people very genuinely...all with us (my boys and I and a couple hundred of our closest friends) crouched down like kids waiting to hear from Santa. I've had some pretty incredible experiences as a fan of soccer in this country, from legendary match days, training briefly as a coach under Tony Waiters, to having Carl Valentine as a guest in my own classroom, to having the Caps open their locker-room to allow my students to interview them....but this was something different, something to be treasured. Feeling pretty grateful for everything this weekend as a proud V. https://mobile.twitter.com/UncleDall/status/1109973289646972928

I just need to say how amazing it is to see the avalanche of player signing announcements, the release of the first game date, etc. Heck, there is a CPL post game party now planned. I know there are things to nit-pick about - and that some are unhappy about the overhype of the VW announcement, etc. But (and I know this is obvious to everyone here) this is such a great time to be a Canadian footy fan. Shit is happening right now that people have dreamed of for years. Hot damn.
