I thought that once you are capped for a country you can't switch allegiances so if he was capped for Portugal then is he really eligible to make a nationality switch to Canada?

I am a little confused by your wording but Ferreira has only been capped in a friendly and therefore remains eligible to represent us.

Ferreira has been back in Canada for the past week, hanging out with North York FC:

Looks like the recovery is still on track and Braga still have faith in him:

That's probably it for his career. At some point you'd have to figure being able to walk pain-free would rate more highly than his now fading future as a player. Unfortunate blow.

Cripes this reminds me of what happened to Josh Simpson.

Not really, Josh destroyed his knee in one incident in which the torque action when he landed on his leg twisted and broke leg bones in a spiral motion. This is just chronically weak ligament problems.

I didnt mean the nature of the injury.  I meant didnt Simpson have a long lay off after knee problems and then trashed his knee again just when we was about to make his comeback?

Bugger. Hopefully not as bad as feared but doesn't look good. Too bad when there were rumblings of him finally turning out for Canada this summer. Hope he can recover but this is a terrible mental blow.

It's likely as bad as it first looked. He will need another operation.
