Milan Borjan

Recommended Posts

Milan and his team have qualified for Champions league group stage with a 2-2 draw (4-2) aggregate win over Viktoria Plzeñ!

He didn't play but the more soccer his team plays the more opportunities he might get! Can't wait to watch!

* The draw of the groups will take place Thursday to determine who they will be playing

He made some impressive stops. But I don't know. He also failed to catch some balls that he needed to catch. And his distribution was bad.

Something that would probably not be an issue if he had game time.

He's played 2 out of the 4 games of his team this year and he played in the most recent one but yeah..he needs to be a starter somewhere.

Considering that his own back line is trained to be on top of him in his six year box, I think he does pretty well in that area.

I was impressed by some of Borjan's saves last night, his shot stopping is excellent but his kicking, especially on his left foot, leaves A LOT to be desired. I quickly skimmed throught this thread and it looked like his move to Partizan was a on again, off again kind of deal, is he staying with Ludogorets?

He has started half of Ludogoets' league games this season. He's not "the" starter, but he does play league football, he's been alternating starts with Stoyanov so far. Hopefully it keeps up but he also had 9 league starts for them last year, so it's not like he doesn't play as so many people seem to think.

Borjan's distribution has always been average to awful. It's one of the reasons why he isn't a starting keeper for some club.

He was our man of the match. But he was naive in kicking the ball out near his goal for James to get to treatment and then expecting Honduras to give the ball back. This lead to the numerous corners and eventual goal.

On the second goal, I thought he was going to catch that pass. I think Henry thought so too which explains the gap that opened up at the end between Henry & Quioto.

The only thing that explains that gap is that Henry couldn't be bothered to stay with his man and just let him go to score the winning goal. If you have any kind of guts and desire you bust a lung to stay with your man - or leave him in your dust, as the case may be.

Henry just wasn't situationally aware and got surprised when the Honduran with a burst of pace made up the significant distance between them at the start of the play and then got out fought at the end.

There was no distance. Henry & Quioto were running together about 5 metres outside the box. Henry put a hand on Quioto in the box but before the goal area to slow him down but not get a penalty. That could have also slowed down Henry.

In hindsight James was playing injured as he didn't attack Ellis as aggressively as he did others in the first half.

Yes, there was.  Right at the start of the play.  At the 50:25 mark as Ellis runs onto the Martinez's long ball you can see that we are facing a dangerous 3 v 3, with De Jong being caught well out of position pressuring Martinez and Hutchinson on his horse trying to get back.  At this point, Jakovic is about five yards on the right side of Lozano while Henry is about ten yards on the correct side of Quioto not that far from the half way line. So between there and the edge of the box where they are side by side battling for position, the Honduran made up that original cushion.

Also, without cover, there's no way James can be aggressive with his challenge on Ellis so he does, imo, the right thing here and shepherd him for the cross and not let him cut inside for a shot (or get skinned completely).

Yes, especially considering Larin is scoring a hat-trick on Tuesday to put us through to the Hex ;)

Well, that didn't happen, so for me that's settled.

Great job keeping us in the hunt, Borjan!

I find it a bit annoying he's never an option for MLS teams. Minnesota should have moved for him.

He's in a league much better than MLS. With already a shortage of Canadian players being active in Europe, there's no need to remove one. MLS is below Canadians' level and anyone with self-respect and drive to be the best will avoid it. MLS is community college, and Borjan is already beyond that level, even if he's not in a top league in Europe.
