Usually a pre-season friendly can be a simple scrimmage, and if there is no CSA ref involved officially, designated by them or by a provincial association, they should not really have anything to say in the matter. 
Which makes me wonder: have the Caps not properly registered their u-23 team, do they not have CSA authorisation to play? Or is there some defect related to players' insurance or the like?
Since the CPL teams are properly sanctioned, and all requisites are 100% fulfilled, perhaps even for trialists, I am assuming the problem has nothing to do with FC Edmonton. So I am thinking that the Caps have not properly gone about sanctioning and/or fulfilling CSA conditions for their u-23 players.

Do you understand that I very much hope CanPL succeeds this summer? Yes or no. If the answer is no, please avoid engaging with my posts in future through the prism of some bizarre MLS vs CanPL narrative that I couldn't care less about. 

That's the problem though isn't it...you claim to support the CPL and yet you put a negative spin on absolutely everything. You want the CPL to succeed but only if it follows your idea of how a league in Canada should be run...which of course involves the US system because in your eyes that is the only way we'll succeed. The CPL is happening...we are 2 weeks away. Just support it for fucks sake and stop being such an annoying cunt. Have you even bought any tickets or will you have some convenient excuse not to go?

If there are attendance problems, it's up to the team's marketing to adjust and figure it out which I'm sure the Jays marketing team are trying to address at this moment.
Sorry but I can only read do many time the millions different ways to convey pessimism about attendance. We get it already. 
The league did it's part by making the league, marketing did it's part and its an ongoing work...
How about we focus on doing ours?

Most Canadians that say they dislike/hate soccer utilize diving as their number reason. However, that's not the real reason they dislike soccer, it's just a convenient excuse. Most dislike soccer because they just haven't properly witnessed the sport. That is all. Watching the sport at the highest, most exciting level such as a UEFA Champion's league knockout stage game generally converts even the most ardent soccer hater.

The commish has to care about what makes most CDN hate soccer.  He is trying to get this league off the ground and he is addressing the #1 thing that makes people not watch soccer.  Arent we going to need new fans for the league to work and to grow the game?

I think he’s more referencing the guy who barely gets touched in the lower body and then rolls around grabbing his face waiting for the penalty.  Then miraculously with some spray he’s 100%.
