The war is mainly about a gas pipeline from Qatar to Europe that required regime change in Damascus to be built and could have devastated the Russian economy given they depend on Siberian gas to Europe for much of their state revenues. You would be hard-pushed to find a government or rebel group in that part of the world that doesn't have a very bad human rights record, but considerations like that have never stopped western countries from doing business with Saudi Arabia, because not doing so would have devastated the western economy given it revolves around the petrodollar cycle. Don't think we have the right to judge what Babouli is doing from a moral standpoint because the world is a very messed up place and there's not a lot a soccer player can do to change that. Think Babouli's time was up at TFC and he wouldn't be in Syria right now, if he was ever likely to be the answer in MLS terms, because nobody in their right mind would move to Aleppo right now if they had viable options elsewhere. Seriously doubt Ben Spencer is the answer either, but he's younger and still viewed as a prospect. He probably has another 12 months or so to put the pieces together or he'll be on his way and somebody else will get the development time instead.

His confidence on the ball in keeping possession with jukes and turns has really impressed me during this great run. He had one or two passes last night which I think he'd like to have back, but he has been excellent so far this season. As mentioned earlier, he's hitting his prime now so I hope it keeps going and translates into bigger and better things.

Not sure if you’re replying to my comment but I thought my sarcasm was clear. OSEG and John Pugh have been amazing supporters of Canadian soccer over the last few years.

OSEG is another anti Canadian soccer CFL ownership group. I mean what have they done for Canadian soccer?!

Is Bob Young also part of the nefarious CFL Deep State conspiracy or does he get a pass because of his longterm interest in owning a soccer team? Personally in Hamilton I'm more concerned with City Council being obstinate than being bullied by the TiCats.

Alderson is from Kitchener. Carducci is from Calgary. Clarke and Fisk are from Vancouver. Levis is from Saskatoon. Melvin and Norman are from BC. Those are the ones I remember, but let's be honest, most of the players who we think as top tier players/prospects are not from BC.

They CFL types in Winnipeg seem to be getting along with soccer types. Not all the old stereotypes are still valid. A CFL partnership with a stadium might be the mean big brother scenario but they should be able to get along.

Assists at 1:21 and 5:45 You might as well watch the whole video though; it's basically a Fraser Aird highlight reel, he absolutely dominated that game.

Now has 2 assists, 5 key passes and has played in each of Fresno's last 5 games. He's still raw, but man is the potential there. He consistently beat players today making runs from midfield, is capable of making incredible passes, and best of all rarely turns the ball over. If he keeps going at this pace, we need to cap-tie him in the Nation's League. Assisted a tremendous finish today:

I think a CPL club is not going to have much profit to funnel for a while. More likely it's going to be losses that need to be absorbed. Conflict of interest? I don't get that. More often than not, owners own more than one team across various sports. Most of the time the issue is $. I suspect the Bombers see the potential in this project, and also know that it will help fill stadium dates. And they have the existing infrastructure (season ticket lists, sponsor relationships) and have deep enough pockets to withstand early losses. If there was a true soccer lover in Winnipeg that was willing to pony up the cash to have a club, they could've done it by now. USL and NASL would've taken anyone as long as their cheque cleared. So the Bombers have stepped up. Would you feel differently if it was the Jets instead of the Bombers owning the CPL club?

Can anyone list the guys from Vancouver, or BC even that the Whitecaps have given first team contracts too? As mentioned above Froese and Bustos were from Winnipeg, Davies is from Edmonton, Teibert St. Catharines, I think Alderson was Calgary or something wasn’t he? Maybe Carducci was Calgary too? I’m not sure where Caleb Clarke is from so maybe he is from Vancouver? I can’t think of anymore MLS era Whitecaps homegrowns at the moment.

Before everyone gets all up in arms at the “evil” CFL, the Esks pay rent at Clarke according to this http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/edmonton-eskimos-fc-edmonton-1.4625416 As the article says with some talking between the sides it is possible that everyone can win here

Does it even matter right now? We aren't playing a decent team for at least 9 months.

I am glad someone is updating this. Great work! Question: who are US-1? MLS champs I assume? What about US-2? Supporter shield? Is USOC US-3? Thanks!

    Jonathan Osorio

I remember a number of games when Osorio didn't start during Zambrano's era, but the only games I remember him being not being in the 18 man roster was when he was either injured or part of the Gold Cup squad, so probably a bit of an exaggeration from Zambrano (even if the sentiment is a nice one to see).

I tend to agree with you here. But you could also say he plays for the people who are living in hell and who knows this is their only distraction from their horrible situation.

    Liam Millar

I don't see him being loaned out and hope he doesn't. The style and way Liverpool play, I love the fact we have a Canadian attacking option developing in that program. Even if it is with the reserves or the U23, we can be sure he will see regular minutes, why? because Liverpool will make sure of it. Just have to hope he has no major set-backs(injury) etc. "knock on wood", and stays on his current trajectory. He does seem very modest and have an incredible work ethic along with the full support of Gerrard, these are all great things. Agree with @Unnamed Trialist , after the WC and maybe during the pre-season tours, I could see a back and forth integration with some of the first team, including some training session..... with guys like Salah and Firminio.... what more could we ask for as a Canadian fan with one of our prospects!? Of course, he is not going to overtake one of their top 3 forwards anytime soon, but a few injuries to some first team players, or who knows perhaps a team asks for a HUGE amount of transfer $ for a player in a few years, the footy world can change quickly and fast. With the attitude we've seen from Millar's I am sure he will be ready to take his opprotunity. My two dream scenario's: 1) 30-50% chance, 2) 1%-10% chance 1) Liverpool goes all the way in the CL, while creating some separation for a top 3 spot in the BPL. He gets called to the first team before the season ends and gets a 10 minute run out. 2) Davies signs with Liverpool and in 3-7 years.....Davies and Millar are starting in Liverpool's 11 every week! Disclaimer *** It is hard not getting crazy excited, and he is in an excellent spot. In reality, he still has a long waysssss to gooooooo, so for now, as a fan and supporter, I am just hoping he stays on his current trajectory. *****

Stephen Eustáquio was sub in the 55 ‘ min and scored his first goal. He also set up the tying goal in a 3-3 draw vs Boavista. His goal was a blast from just outside the box. I hope he chooses to play for Canada soon! Here’s the highlights , his goal is that 3:36 min and he sets up the goal right after with a sweet back heel in the box. His number is 46

Tyson Farago made his Irish League Debut yesterday, coming on in the second half (45th minute) for St Pat's. They beat Waterford United and he kept a clean sheet.

That's unacceptable. So in the rest of 2018 the US will play Ireland, England, France, Bolivia, and Italy while we play three teams that combined have less then 10 professional footballers. Sweet.
