January U23 Camp

Recommended Posts

Roster is out... peculiar to see no one born earlier than 1997. Nice to see someone from sigma invited

It's their club season, January camp is usually a majority of North American base.  Not surprising at all and not a big deal to me personally.

I understand it's club season, but it's for the  Olympics. Canada needs to  qualify.

That could be true. The CSA gets bullied by clubs all the time.

Not sure it's bullying.  I read something on the US January camp roster yesterday and they mentioned how most of the European clubs denied all the requests for players.  Clubs have rights as well

Most of CONCACF youth qualifying doesn't fall in FIFA break windows. The USA can get their player when they need it. We can't! Why because the CSA gets bullied or they favor MLS for example the U17 team.

Can any of the Impact guys fill us in on some of those academy guys??  Kinumbe, Byiha, Balbinotti???  Their U-19 side has a great record but these kids are all new to me.

I've heard some really good things about this next generation. Bayiha and M. Choinière in particular have earned high praise

Wow a lot of European and South  American talent left off the list. What a shame!

Who's missing?  Millar, the Scottish guys (Zanatta, Paton, Godinho).  Who are the South American guys?

Nicolas Galvis is a 97 in Colombia who was on the Gold Cup shortlist and was called into one of the earlier summer camps. As well, Diego Gutierrez in Chile

Was hoping Gabriel Boakye would get a call (and club permission) to participate in the camp since his club are on a winter break.  He's getting minutes and now starting at a good level for a not yet 20 year-old.
